I'm on an overnight shift all week and need to stay up late tonight so I can be tired enough to go to bed around noon tomorrow. Problem is, I'm tired already and I figure I need a couple more hours before I can go to bed.

Problem is, I'm tired already and I figure I need a couple more hours before I can go to bed.I've found that tiredness comes in waves. If you can survive an hour or two more, you might find that you don't feel tired for a few hours.

Good luck. I can't even adjust to a non-changing schedule, let alone one that changes on a whim.

I sympathize....worked overnight shifts at some points....hard on the body.

Idk that you can ever fully re-set to nocturnal....we're just not wired that way - but try to get as many naps in during the day as possible - it really helps.

Stayed up 'till 3:00 last night. Got up at 7. I'll go to bed at noon and get up at 7PM to be at work at 9. I'm doing this all week, then back to an 0515 show Monday for my evaluation/qual. Then I go back to normal hours and will only do shifts to fill in for folks. Could be the day shift, could be the night shift. Could be only twice per month (min required for proficiency) or could be a week or two at a time (4 on/4 off alternating days and nights) to cover for people on leave or what not.

I think I have a workable plan set up with the wife, so it should be OK.

That's what's important. :)

I feel for ya. I usually end up doing a few graveyards each month to cover for people. It takes me a week to recover.
