Have not really ridden a bike since I was a kid but for what ever reason wanted to start rideing again. I am 42 now (maybe my second childhood has hit)
Despite advice I found here lurking the forums I purchased a department store bike not wanting to sink a bunch of money until I was sure I really wanted to ride again. I road it for a few weeks and was sure I did indeed want to ride. Cleaned up the department store bike and ran it down to toys for tots. Good timeing in this regard.
Now for a quick newb question. I went to the lbs and was told that the Bolder SE was the best value for a entry level bike. I will be rideing it mostly on the street. I live on the west coast of FL and am hard pressed to find a steep hill let alone a mountain trail.
I purchased what I assume is a 09 Boulder SE for 400 bucks which includes a years worth of free service. I am hoping this was a fair price. How do I tell what year my bike is? If this bike is actually an 08 I assume I may have overpaid for the bike. From what I can tell looking at pics on the net the 08 has a different frame from the 09 but I am not sure.
At any rate I am enjoying the bike and ride most every day. Service at my LBS seemed good. They spent time with me making sure I had the right size bike seat adjustment etc. and was encouraged to bring the bike in at regular intervals for service. Actually this was the second LBS I visited. The first one did not seem interested in doing any of the above I just mentioned.
