I am just getting into biking and didnt want to spend alot, so I read up as much as I could and decided the frame was the most important and found a Kestrel 4000 in perfect shape for cheap. Figured might as well get any kind of carbon bike if I could then worry about more perfect components later if I really needed them.

Anyway, first, it is hard to find people with these bikes, anyone have an opinion?

Second, the biggest drawback though not terrible, is the shifters located on the downtube instead of the newer ones built into the braking assemblies. I believe there is no cheap way to convert that over. Does anyone know of an inexpensive kit that will extend those levers to the handle bars?

Also, is there an inexpensive kit that will extend the brake levers to the top of the handle bars rather than just accessing them at the curl?
