so, I'm home sick from work today. I have a cold: my head feels like it's stuck in a vice grip, and my ears are ringing.
To top it all off (and make me feel like I'm going completely insane) my upstairs neighbor left the alarm clock ringing.
aarrrghhh :twitchy:
Dang, sorry to hear that Arti.
On a humorous note, I used to race sailboats in my pre kid days. Took a J22 to Galveston to race in the Nationals in 1997. Got there a bit a late, and in the scramble to get the boat rigged and in the water, a race timer got lost somewhere below deck. And it was running.
A race timer is basically a clock/watch that can be set to count down, usually in 5 minute intervals and alarm at each minute until you get to five minutes, at which point it goes off constant for about a minute. This helps you start the race on time.
Anyway, for the entire 4 day regatta, we had an alarm going off on the boat every five minutes. For 4 straight days, a loud repetitive beeping, every five minutes. After a few unsuccessful searches for the lost timer, we just gave up and began to joke about "another five minutes."
To this day, I will hear an alarm go off and look at my wife and say "another five minutes" and just laugh.
Oh, and we got smoked in the regatta, finished mid fleet about 25 boats back from first place, but it was great fun to sail against some of the best small keel boat sailors in the world.

yeah my first thought was to call the cops and tell them I could hear a bomb beeping upstairs.
I think that was the cold medicine brainstorming.

The only problem I see with that is you'd have to leave the building... :(
That does really blow...:(
is there a part of your place where you go to where it's less noticeable? Maybe turn on some music or bad TV to drown it out
Reminds me of Reggie and the Full Effect. "Doot Doot Pause Doot Doot".

call the CDC and try to get them to quarantine your building, after the neighbors have left. That would give you some peace and quiet.
Use the term Y. Pestis infection....that should do it.
*hugs* (Always wanted a good excuse to hug arti)
Nightshifter to the rescue! Lets make that beep beep disappear. The first would be ear-plugs, available on any pharmacy or on the pharmacy section of any major store. Call somebody and ask him/her to bring you some.
Second is put on your favorite headphones and fire up the mp3 player with some calming music. This covers up any remaining sounds not muted by the earplugs. You could also use the headphones by themselves, without the plugs, if the beeping is not too bad.
Third, relocate. Go around your home and search for the spot with less noise. Move couch to that spot and hang over there.
The first and second measures used together are usually enough to cover up a screaming 2yo toddler. They should take care of that beeping.

Good strategy Ruben. ear plugs I am already armed with. :D
actually, the 1 beep just turned into 2 so I called the management office, thinking it might have been smoke alarms out of batteries. Turns out, it is smoke alarms (tenants moved out) and they're on top of it: should turn off soon.
whew.

Smoke alarm battery warning beeps and alarm clock beeps are so different...what did you take for your cold? Is it legal?

Get well soon. :grouphug:
If it makes you feel any better, my upstairs neighbor is this guy:

Sometimes, he practices his drumming. Without regard to what time of day it is. :(

two calls to the mgmt office and 7 hours later, the noise has subsided. I think there may have been an alarm system and/or a smoke alarm going off. good news is, I can sleep now :)

Rest up and get better artifice. Life sucks when you can't distinguish your head from a car alarm. :(
This is what C4 is made for. Go blow down his door and then blow up the alarm clock.Overkill. C4 would blow up the door, the doorframe around it, the floor under it, you...
Primacord would do nicely.
Rest up, artifice. I'd put in some kind of "get well soon" image here, but all the ones I saw in a Google Image Search were vomit-inducing, and that's not quite what you need right now, I'm guessing.

I'm still not 100% but am headed into work today, so that's a step in the right direction... after all, I did get about 24 hours of sleep (or more) over the last 2 days :D
