NYC Cop Caught on Tape Knocking Down Cyclist Indicted LINK HERE (http://www.1010wins.com/Cop-Caught-on-Tape-Shoving-Cyclist-Indicted/3498622)

Back in Sept almost everyone was sure this cop was not only going to slip into the shadows but also keep his job. An indictment albeit many months later is a good start.

Its a start. I hope he goes to jail. I really hate cops. They want respect but treat everyone like sh*t! I have had a few run ins with NYC finest but always won. I get pullled over for having a nice car. I'm glad it was caught on tape!

I have nothing but respect for the police, and I'm all for weeding out the rotten apples like this guy. He's the self-entitled type who likes to push people around. Can't have guys like that with badges.

According to Ray Kelly this guy had just graduated from the Police Academy three weeks earlier. This guy had to be a real jerk and apparently the PBA had no interest in protecting him.

Yeah, the PBA pretty much had it's hands tied. No possible way you could defend the guy.

Patrick Pogan was 2nd generation NYPD. I guess he grew up wanting to be a cop, let it get to his head, and was looking forward to pushing people around (a bit too literally).

Remember, all the (falsified) reports were filed against the cyclist and he was pretty much screwed. If this video didn't exist, poor Christopher Long may well have been convicted of:

"Pogan had filed charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration against Long. Those charges were dismissed.

Morgenthau said Pogan falsified details in the criminal complaint and other paperwork related to Long's arrest. In both, Morgenthau said, Pogan claimed that Long steered his bike into the officer and injured him."

I have alot of cops in my family. I do not come from a line of cop. Most of us are lawyers or engineers. But I have relatives that became cops and once they got their badge and gun they changed. Doesn't happen to all but to many. Either way I am glad this cop will get whats coming to him!

You hate cops but have a lot of them in your family?

I always have a hard time understanding why people want to lump everyone in a certain job into *******s or jerks. Maybe you hate cops because you were an ass when you were caught doing something wrong....:roflmao2:

Bottom line is that there are bad apples in every job from cops with egos to the kid that spits in your hamburger at McDonalds to those CPA's that steal from their clients to the cashier that pockets cash from their till. To label a group as bad because of one or two bad apples doesn't make sense.

I am a LEO and think this guy should go to jail for a long time. Integrity is the only thing that everyone has. Once you let that go regardless of your job, you got nothing.

Just your statement alone tells me your age! You are entitled to your opinion! I guess being a LEO makes all the difference!

I'm sure the last thing you could judge would be my age, even if I help a bag of solid gold coins in front of you.

However I can make the assumption that you are very immature if you needed to mention the fact that you "hate" cops. To hate an entire group of people based upon the actions of one or two people shows a lot of shortsightedness, but I am sure you already know that.

I have integrity and have it because of how I was raised and would have it regardless if I slung trash for a job or worked for the government with top secret clearance. You either have it or don't.

Do you have it?

First, I didn't make any wise ass comments toward another member. You did! I run a very successfull construction company here in NYC. We get harrassed by cops all the time for lane closures, trucks, equipment and so on even though we have permits for all! I am entitled to my opinion from personal experience! I do have a few family members that are cops and I hate what they have become because they have a badge and a gun! So my OPINION is still the same. I don't like cops!

I guess when a NYC cab driver cuts you off while riding and you make a statement that you hate cabbie! Does that make you immature too? I know many of us have made that statement why riding or even driving our cars. Yes I hate cabbies too! Anyway this is off topic and I hope you have a Happy New Year! Ride safely!

Jeez, does every thread have to deteriorate into this kind of thing? Why doesn't everyone step away from their computers for a while until you all can figure out how to get along.

Actually I don't go around making blanket statements saying I hate a group of people. Strike that, I do hate child molesters, murders, *******, etc but not a type of employment. Heck I don't even hate ignorant, rude people or liars, it just provides me with some amusement. I don't hate cabbies, leftist, rightist, garbage workers, postal employees or the people that are illegally in the country trying to make a living for their family in another country.

My point is that this person who was employed as a cop has seen the 1st step of hopefully a harsh punishment for his actions, that's all.

If you feel the need to let me know how successful you are then good for you. I am confused because you said the company you work for failed to bid on a project (actually you said Know one, not no one....) but now you run it? Either way, this is turning into an ass kicking contest with a one legged man...

Enjoy your holiday season and judge people individually and not lump everyone in a classification...:love::love::love:

Uh....come again? I'll agree that obie made a pretty sweeping comment, but who's being childish here?

Kotts. AS I stated I am entitled to my opinion thats all. I am not forcing my opinion onto anyone! Attacking someone for have an opinion is just childish! Why can't people have and opinion without being called an ass! The cop is going to get what's coming to him and I am happy about that! End of story! Moving on!

If we didn't have the police, it would be necessary to invent them. Imagine what life would be like without them!

The police do a difficult and dangerous job, and without them civilization would collapse. Look at Somalia for an example of a society without police. Civilization is possible only with the rule of law, and without the means to enforce the law, the law is not a law, but only a suggestion.

I agree with you 100%! But using an example as Somalia is wrong! Because that is a poverty stricken country that the people have turned to violence just to survive! If you have no money, food or a home to live in, who knows what you might do! Crime and drugs have become the norm just to survive.

Here in NYC cops get paid the least amount of money of all the other agencies but they get the least amount of respect because of their attitudes! NYC has implimented a sensitivity training program for cops. My experiences with the police in NYC has not been enjoyable. I am in construction and in my 20 years in the business we just don't see eye to eye. Sometimes we get fined for the dumbest things but still cost us money for lawyers to fight the fines. In the end we always win! Well depends on how you look at it! I am not telling anyone to hate cops at all. I personally don't like them.

Far from a child. Children say they hate groups of people, adults understand that it is the individual.

In regards to you getting cited by the police, they don't make the laws, just enforce them. If a judge or jury or lawyers can fight it, good for them. You seem to think that LEO's have power, which they don't. The people in power are the law makers, the one citizens elect. LEO's are hired to enforce the laws. Good LEO's don't let things get personal, the bad ones do.

I do feel sorry that you feel the need to hate a group of people based upon their job, but hey as you said you are entitled to your opinion.

Now go and fetch up that orange flag, you are letting traffic back up at your construction site!!!

I have a good friend who was with the Peace Corps in Somalia before the meltdown. She tells me that, despite the poverty, it was peaceful and orderly. It was only after the collapse of law and government there that it became the hellhole that it is now.

I'm glad the cop in question was caught/charged. But what gave him the impression he could do that?

I hope his immediate superiors were questioned as well. Yes, some people get a badge think it's a free pass to do whatever, but I also question this guy's training/education at the Academy and the psych background that was/wasn't done.

I know beat cops are the lowest level of the Department, but since they have the most interaction with the public, the candidates for this job really need extensivie training, background checks, pysch profiling and constant supervision. My feeling is they don't get it.
