If you were given a gift of $8,000 tax-free, what would you do with it?

pay bills. :o
Ninety-nine $80 bicycles. Invest the rest.
I'd put it away in my bank account, where it could mate with my existing money and create little baby moneys. Isn't that how it works?

I'd invest it all in Shotgun Pete's Glow-in-the-Dark Wallpaper.
Quit all my obligations and go on a bike tour for a year.

I sure as heck wouldn't spend it on a bike. No bike is worth $8k, at least not to me.

Pay off the credit card and upgrade my upstairs (replace carpet with bamboo, replace current window coverings with plantation shutters).
Or pay off the credit card and go on an extended European bike tour.

Keep half and use it to replace two 30-year-old sliding glass doors at the house, then donate the rest so others can have a merry little Christmas.

replace them with french doors. I want to blow out the wall to our sunroom and install a nice pair of french doors.

I would love to do French doors but they are more expensive. And I need something with screens so my two kitties don't escape outside.

If you want to buy a house...now and over the next year is the time to do it because you'll have the perfect storm of depressed prices, glut of supply and low interest rates (if you have good credit and a standard down payment).

save some for the new coffee table:innocent:

Credit isn't anything special (haven't screwed up, but I'm young and haven't had to borrow), but with 10% or more down the boyfriend and I should be able to get something decent and refinance in a couple years if we get a really bad interest rate.
Coffee table should cost $100 or so, not a big expense and completely worth it. :D
