Greetings all,

I am pretty new to road cycling my boss got me into it last year by doing the MS Coast the Coast. I have to say I was totally unprepared for the ride since I had to real concept of what 170 miles on a bike meant. Anyway I did make it out of sheer will power and may a bit a obcessive compulsive behavior. However, I spent the next month in physical therapy for hand and knee injuries, but it was worth it.. the feeling of accomplishment. Having said that I will be doing the ride again this year and I am trying to prepare better for it and would like some advice on preperation so here it what I am doing so far to prepare:

Diet:
70% Raw vegetarian, 30% Protien

Riding
2 long rides on the weekends 25 - 35 miles with moderate hills

Weight Training
Weekdays of rotating 30 minute high intensity and low intenseity cardio, 30 min of low weight high rep weight lifting, and one rest day.

Unfortunately, my job is very sedetary and I have two young children so I don't get alot of time to ride or workout, but since my ride last year I lost about 40lbs (180 currently) and with my new diet I feel fantastic. One of my biggest issues I had last year was my neck and shoulders killing me after about 4 hours of riding. If any more experienced riders have any suggestions I would love to hear them... my goal this year is to complete the ride without having to spend on month in physical therapy :)

Thanks,

Scott

BTW: Bike is a Airborne Valkarye /w SHimano 105, and Velomax wheels..

God Bless and have a Happy Easter... or Passover

I am assuming this is a 2 day ride. There is a thread on here that gives and excellent training schedule for a century. I used to have the link, but I must have deleted it. Someone can surely post it yet again.
