Folding Bikes - Design 21: Bikerella on swift and folding handlebar

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I stumbled on this pic, a finalist design of a raincoat on a swift:

Also interesting is a folding handlebar, it is the second winner of that "power to the pedal" design competition, more info here:

Some of the offerings on that page are severely illconceived. This one for example:

The multiple gear boxes would probably soak up half the power the rider put into it.

Actually, christini already has a fully developed product. Some magazines reviewed it quite favorably:

Interesting folding handlebars, works as a steering lock as well... nice! :)
The raincoat is probably practical in the rain... but it looks odd. Some cities over here are also very windy and the coat could be quite dangerous...
Depending on the wind direction, it might be a good thing and get a cyclist home faster! :thumb:

Thanks for the link Somnatash.
I've just bought a German cape, by Jeantex, which seems quite good so far in limited testing, a bit like "bikerealla".
Like EvilV, I think one or two of them are perhaps a little naive, but some could spawn useful products.
The Los Angeles "Elevated Highway" might be interesting to Folder Fanatic.

There are so many clever ideas there, though. I like the folding handlebars that doubles as a lockset (if only to the steering - you'd still need to secure the frame to some immovable object of course.) And the lightweight universal panniers shown would be handy. Lots of creative minds at work.
