I'm looking at the Killer Headwind resistance unit from Kreitler:

And it looks like I can attach it to any set of rollers, not just Kreitler. My rollers are the CycleOps PVC rollers:

Think the two will work together?

Do either of the end rollers have an un-used groove for the belt drive?

Both sides of the rollers have grooves, so I guess yes there is an unused groove.

My only concern is with the attachment point between the resistance unit and the roller. On the Kreitler rollers, the drum is elevated above the frame; with the CycleOps, the drum mounts on the inside of the frame.

It should work.

You can hack something together to get the thing mounted. Since the Kreitlers are elevated off the base, the attachment point is closer to the belt line. On the Performance rollers, you're going to have the belt line about 1" off.

I think your best bet is to utilize the holes in the base in front of the front wheels to attach the KHW on the inside of the base. That should get the belt line close enough to keep it quiet. The KHW adjusts belt tension, so it will be easy to accommodate the forward mounting position by sliding it back on its beam.

I looks like your rollers have several sets of holes just forward of the drums. I'd bet you could bolt the Killer headwind to one of those sets of holes. The KH mounts via hole in a tab that sticks down off the end of the arm, very simple. No promises but I don't see why you couldn't get them to work. Belt length might be a minor issue. Good choice by the way, it will dramatically change your roller workouts...

I was riding 53x11 on the rollers last night, 105rpm at threshold. I know my FTP is gonna go up, so I want to increase the resistance on the rollers without resorting to things like towels or flat tires.

Open the flap on the KH all the way and you'll know why they call it "Killer" :thumb: A quarter open works pretty well for workouts in the 300-ish range...

THAT THING IS UNBELIEVABLY LOUD! I used to have one.

So long as it works, I don't care how loud it is. I'll be using it in my garage.

They work necely. I have one. It can REALLY make you work though. The killer headwind just needs to go over the bolt that sticks out of your drum, so rather than mounting it to the ouside of your frime, you can probalby put it on the INSIDE, next to the drum itself if you feel you need a straighter line of pull. Don't worry about it though. It is well made and you will be fine with it.

Got one on the way. Maybe I can get rid of my trainer now.

go to Home Depot and get some flat bar stock and make a z shaped bracket with 2 holes to mount the KH unit ahead of the drums to an unused frame hole. you can adjust the depth of the bend to fine tune the alignment. If you want to get fancy, make 2 brackets and drill and extra hole in the KH extention arm to get even more stability.
