My wife and I will bein the Keys on the 24th and 25th of December. How rideable is Route 1 from Key West?
We'll be on rental bikes, which I imagine won't be the most comfortable, so I imagine we'd ride no more than 10 or 15 miles towards the mainland and back.
Thanks!

Ill be there the 22nd and the 23rd. I do not think you will like riding on 1 out of Key West. It is very busy with sketchy shoulders. If both of ou are experianced riders then you may be ok but if your wife is like mine I would not recommend it. I would stick to riding on the island. Riding the perimeter of the island is a nice ride then just cruise all the side streets and look at the cool architecture.

We ended up renting singlespeed cruisers and toodling around Key West itself. Driving along route 1 from Key Largo to Key West, I see there's a path alongside for perhaps 2/3 of the distance. Looks like fun riding where there's a path.
