My commute home that is. 18 miles via car but it has been two hours AND counting. Good times. Later.

My mile commute home was treacherous also :D
30 miles, Batavia to Cary, 2:00-4:00 (obviously not at rush hour).
Why can't the form-fill-seal guys be around the corner?
2 hours 35 minutes. i could have commuted home tonight faster via mountain bike and/or a donkey.
off to shovel then ride the trainer. wow, this night cant possible get any better......:)
later.

5.5 Mile commute was a killer. Took me 5 minutes longer than normal :)

It was horrid, but I got from Aurora to the shop in St Chucks in about 30 minutes. Only a couple of other guys made it for the trainer class - none of which were the ones who could teach.
I just started spinning a bit and then before I knew it I went to twist my foot and my cleat popped 2 screws off - new Speedplay setup. Hadn't checked it since installing them a couple of weeks ago. Glad they didn't pop during the TT on Sunday.
So....by the time I got changed and back in the car the roads were much better. Still a PITA though. People just can't drive on this stuff.

I love driving in the snow. I just wish we would have gotten some more treacherous stuff.
My commute to school for the last 3 years has been 25 miles each way, 11 of which are on a highway, but it was hardly ever plowed, and if it was, it was done at 3am so it was caked again at 6am. Therefore we all drove in other peoples tire tracks. Once in a while everyone in my class raced eachother and we got up to ~75 mph on these sh*tty roads.
It was fun, but very dangerous. Everyone in my class had at least *some* racing experience, though I was the most experienced in real driving conditions, a.k.a: not going straight for a few seconds.

i like driving in the snow too, but not at 5 mph in Chicago Rush Hour traffic. me thinks you missed my point. ;) later.

Everything should of been shut down early last night with the horrible road conditions here. Took nearly 4 hours for my sister's husband to get from the north burbs to Jofield last night. Think with all the budget problems many towns have, you might see more 'snow' days.
We may be in for a bad ice storm by tomorrow evening, so you folks who have to drive 20+ miles to work might want to head home at noon to avoid another epic fail.

I think you missed my point, I was implying that you should get a monster truck and drive over them.:p
^^^^ maybe.
on a different note my new Specialized wool socks kept my toes very warm while shoveling. later.

Calling for snow here this weekend.....Glad I won't be here to see it. I am planning a nice 3 hour ride down A1A in FL on Sunday in 80 degree weather though if anyone wants to join me.....:p
^^^^ just snow. they have been calling for more "epic" winter weather here in Chicago. snow, ice, wind, traffic, blah, blah, blah. i am finding a reason NOW to leave the office and head home NOW. :) later.

Sun still peaking out as of 2 p.m. here in Jofield.

I may have to run my youngest to his appointment tonight. Better me driving in the stuff than my teenager, who knows 2 speeds. stop & above the speed limit :D Sounds like Colorchange :D

That's nothing man.
My dad was in the car, driving to Wonder Lake from The Loop, for 5 hours! A friend of mine who lives in Woodstock was driving home from work in Oak Park, 4 hours. My commute is about 7 mins :)

6-10 inches of snow tonight, with an additional 1-3 tommorrow. Thankfully mama let me buy my 4x4 a few years ago, so the ride into work will be horrid, but do-able. Getting into my M.O.P. (Mobile observation platform) will be a lot worse. Those rear wheel drive crown vics aren't the greatest. knowing my boss, he'll still expect our daily "performance standard" of "contacts" aka, tickets. Its fun to watch everyone drive in this stuff but it does get old quick.

Yee haaa. 6 miles in almost an hour in heavy new snow. Only dumped it once. Had to drag the bike in a few spots that were too deep and icy to ride through. The ride home should be nice.

Here is a shot of my snow mobile. Notice the snow packed around the brakes. I tried to use them to stop in my parking lot and no matter how hard I squeezed, they had NO effect. I laughed out loud.

...and you said you didn't want to do cyclocross because you might get hurt......
EDIT: I made the trek in this morning. Funny how I stayed at home during the nice day and picked the bad one to come in on. Happens.
FWIW - people around here can't drive on this stuff. They royally suck. It's Chicago people. It snows every year.
CC you da man!!! :)
i am sitting in the comforts of home working, sort of working that is.
i am sure the bossman will be looking for me, but i just could not risk another 18 mile 2 hour plus road trip. later.

Well, we got clobbered, and it's still coming down. In about a 1/2 hour, the boys and I are going to shovel the driveway, since I still need to go to my p/t job this afternoon. BTW, my parents went to Marseilles, IL on Wednesday, before heading to Texas. I hope they stay put until some of this blows over.

Suposedly it's done by noon.
After the collossal f'up from the weather guys on the timing for yesterday my wife was positive that they would mis-predict this morning as well.
She got up and went to the window. Looked out. I asked, "how bad is it?" She says, "It's nothing. Maybe an inch. You can still see where we shoveled. Cars are flying by."
I rolled over and reset the alarm thinking I needed less time to get in.
When I got up and looked out I realized she needs new glasses.

Here are some of the funny comments. I got a "loser" form a pick-up truck, a few honking horns (I prefer to think they were saying "way to go"). But the best was this nice lady (fairly cute) sees me cutting through a parking lot and backs up (in a minivan) to ask if she could give me a ride.
I said thanks but I'm doing it for the exercise. She says "way to go" and drives off. Nice lady but she really shouldn't be picking people up off the street. Kind of made my day. :)

That was my wife. She called me and said you were actually hitting on her and begging for a ride.
Good thing you got out of there before the cops she called showed up....

Darn school district was closed today. "Had" to take the day off.:D Oh, no, now Christmas break starts, and I won't be able to work for 2 weeks. Life is rough sometimes.
So...time to start some serious training. I'm thinking regular 12oz. curling to strengthen my elbows and improve my eye-hand-mouth coordination.
