Foo - Am I the only one?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Who doesn't blast music at peak volume constantly?
Who chews with his mouth closed?
Who understands that a car's throttle is actually variable, not an on/off switch?
Who doesn't think that being outside in the winter is an immediate death sentence?
Just curious, because I'm starting think I am. :notamused:

if we were the last two people on earth?
then yes, you'd be the only one
edit: all except the open mouth chew thing. That's just annoying....

I can add to that list. You're not the only one.
I'm starting to think there are two separate evolutionary chains for humans. But that's just my ego babbling, isn't it?

now you also know I lie like a rug:innocent:
commuted home in the snow tonight and wanted to get a pic soon as I got inside - my pants were totally white in the front. But my building is so satanically hot that it all melted before the freaking elevator arrived:mad:
all that arctic HTFU, wasted:(

Okay, I mainly started this thread because my neighbor is blasting some horrible music very loudly, and when eating lunch with my coworkers today, I noticed they ALL chew like 4 year old children. :innocent:

you should have went out and rode some more and took your camera with you! :)
wolfie's avatar reminded me - why do all motorcyclists rev the throttle in neutral when stopped at a light? People don't typically do it in cars (well, there was that old '67 Galaxie with the screwdriver holding the choke open that needed help when idling, but you know), so why on bikes?
Vroom vroom = macho, macho ma-aann?

are you nuts?
I ran in and started eating everything that might possibly have been food (this was before turning the lights on...I skipped lunch again today)

I rode a motorcycle for 10 years and I never figured out why people do that. I never felt the need to be a d-bag.

exactly. I tried to keep my bike running smoothly - and I found myself doing it at first....I stopped that immediately.

Being outside in winter is tolerable if there is a ski lift nearby.

You're not the only one. I do all of those myself. Except for the winter thing. F*** you winter! :(
Being outside in winter is tolerable if there is hot chocolate nearby.

What about the asshat roadies that do it on their bicycles?
VROOM VROOM:speedy: uhh..I know it cost as much as a ninja, but it's a bicycle dumbass.:D
Just curious, because I'm starting think I am. :notamused:I've found that one of the best side effects of good audio equipment is that you don't have to turn it up nearly as loud to hear (or try to hear) the details. As far as I know, I chew with my mouth closed. My mastery of the throttle lets me get 20+ MPG out of a full-sized, big-V8-ed pickup truck. I love the winter.
wolfie's avatar reminded me - why do all motorcyclists rev the throttle in neutral when stopped at a light?I don't, unless I'm trying to help out the choke on a cold morning (and even then, it's to 3-4k RPM, not 13-14k).
In the last days of my old car, I had to rev it to keep it from dying sometimes, but there's no way to be macho in a small, mid-80s sedan with 13" wheels and gold paint.
 It isn't??Psst, you're not in Nebraska anymore. It's Texas, it's 67 degrees outside!

Heck, I've ridden home in rain/sleet nastiness the last couple of nights and I'm not dead. In fact I'm the only person at work who isn't always coughing up a lung. :p

I dare you to go out into the sludgefested waters of the deluged SoCal and post a pic!

How about a late 70s coupe with 15" wheels and gold paint?

You are not alone brother, you are not alone...
*yells wifey to turn down the darn tv volume... can be heard 3 houses away*
I chew up fully cranked Ipods with my mouth running at full throttle, indoors, because cold weather gives me bad manners and a slight touch of death.
How about a late 70s coupe with 15" wheels and gold paint?Macho without the engine even running. Fast forward seven years, shift to the X-body line, jump from Pontiac to Buick, and all of that machoness is lost in translation.

I'm surrounded by white trash that all own pickups with straight pipes (or diesels with pipes through the bed of the truck), crank their music (in the car, in the driveway) at 2, 3, 4 in the morning. They walk around outside and yell at each other, smoke outside the house (my house was built around 1840, so it finds its way in the house), and just generally make me wish Fate were under MY control. It sucks, really. When I inherited this house from my Grandmother, our neighbours were all elderly people who didn't make any noise, were friendly, etc. That's the bad thing about elderly people though.... they don't last so long. Now I'm surrounded by rentals. HUD rentals at that, I think.

That's another thing: NO ONE here who owns a pickup has quiet exhaust. Come to think of it, half the cars are that way, too. :notamused:
