Winter Cycling - Cold weather and carbon frames

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Can cold weather damage a carbon frame in any way? I use my Trek Y-22 to commute, and leave the bike exposed to the elements during the day while I'm at school. At night it sits in a covered spot, but not protected from the cold. (By cold weather I mean close to 0 deg F)

no. The polymer, epoxy, is already below the glass transition temperature so any colder will not make it any more brittle. If that were the case, Jets would crash any time they go a few thousand feet up, as the temp of cruising altitude of jets is extremely cold.
Carbon frames are more vulnerable to crashes. This is winter cycling afterall.
