About half as good as the Lemond Zurich :D

What are you asking? Is it a good bike? YES.. you can't go wrong with the 2300.
However, I would not buy a bike just because of a name, or what's on paper.
Bikes are personal, what I like, you may not. Ride several, one may speak to you... and excite you.... but if they all seem even to you, go with your gut.
I almost bought a 2300... It's has all the right components... on paper, it was my best buy, but in riding it, for me, it was nothing special, just a good bike. Other bikes were better for size/riding style.
However, I would not buy a bike just because of a name, or what's on paper.

I rode a 2300 from 1992-2003 and have to say that it was a great bike - it held up against quite a lot of abuse and was reasonably light - I just upgraded to a trek 5200 oclv frame and have to say that although the oclv is better, it was not as remarkable an upgrade as I had anticipated. So I would rate the 2300 as a great price performer. Hope this helps.
