Think of it as a history-making opportunity for you to do something big about cancer, something epic. Like cycling from Toronto to Niagara Falls in two days June 12-14, 2009. Sure, it sounds like a lot… and it’s meant to be. The conquest of cancer is a monumental task and won’t be easy. But make no mistake; this event isn’t just for athletes or cycling enthusiasts. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is for anyone who wants to challenge themselves for a great cause. Even people who haven’t ridden since they were twelve. All you need is motivation, a bike, and a helmet. The rest is history. Be part of it. Visit www.conquercancer.ca or call 877-699-BIKE and register.

I did this ride last year (with 2900 others) and will be doing it again in 09. It was one of the best things that I've done as it not only raised money for cancer research (I am a survivor) but also got me into biking. I bought a basic Trek 1.2 which served me well last year but this year I am building up a Madone 6.5. To say that I have got the biking bug is to put it mildly. You get lots of support and the training is extensive and worth every pound lost. the route is laid out by Steve Bauer who also leads the ride, although there were only a few who could keep up with him. It's well worth doing.
