Spent some time hanging out at a Performance Bike shop today while waiting to meet some one. Having nothing better to do, I spent a lot of time looking at bikes......
I wandered across a GT Zuma 5 MTB/Commuter. It's rigid fork, has a Shimano drive train, and was less than $300. Wheels may be a concern depending on planned use or current weight but it looked like a nice well built bike.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
