So I'm pretty terrible at sprinting. I'm better at putting out descent power over a good period of time, but just don't have the "jump". I would like to practice this.

Any recommendations on locations around Baltimore city? I would like to do as many sprint efforts as I can and then pedal my way home. I tried this yesterday. I rode to Ellicott City to a fairly flat loop, that I know of. The bad thing about this was riding home.... ~10-12 miles of hill with spent legs was not fun. Any recommendations to something closer? I live smack downtown.

How about around the lakes--Druid hill or Montebello?

I'll try Patterson park. I've only walked there with my wife, never thought about cycling.

Do form sprints to help your jump.

Start from like 5 mph in the little (or middle if you have a triple) ring and middle of the cassette, and just gun it. This should help with your jump.
