I want to build an IRO Heidi... just wondering what options are out there as far as finding affordable 650 wheels. Ebay? Craigslist? Who makes them? (I've heard Velocity makes 650 rims) I'm getting the feeling that finding a set in my price range might not be likely.
PS: yes I did use the search function.
PPS: not asking you to search ebay/cl for me, wondering if anyone has experience looking for and/or finding 650s there.

instead of asking if it's available on ebay and craiglist....
search ebay and craigslist.
if they dont have what you are looking for. then build your own wheels

I did search ebay and cl, found nothing so far... I will of course continue to look for myself but was wondering if anyone knows how commonly one can find 650s there.
Nice bike.

Hey thanks Neo, I hadn't thought to GOOGLE it.... what a concept.
Except I DID already do the same search and my specific question wasn't answered. ;)

Most companies will produce both 650 an 700 rims, its pretty common size, Craigslist and Ebay will have them and most likely any online bike shop or most local bikes shops too. Your just gonna have to start looking around or calling some shops, it shouldn't be too hard. As far as affordable, that all depends, you never actually said what "affordable" was for you, so maybe that is why your "specific question" was never answered. Wienmann and Sun both make reasonably cheap rims and are fairly easy to find, Velocity, Mavic, and others can get expensive. The hubs are what really make the difference on pricing, you can get Formula hubs or something like that for around $50 or $60 bucks, Dura Ace hubs are also really good, the usually run closer to $120, and if you really want to break the bank you could go with Campagnolo or Phil Woods, but those are in no way cheap. Then there are spokes which are a dollar or so a piece, but you can always look for pre built wheels, and save yourself the hassle of lacing them, but that too will cost you a little bit more.

I had to recently buy a new wheelset for my iro heidi and i just got them built by my lbs. There are a lot of manufactures that make 650c rims and it will be very easy for them to build it up for you. It's pretty difficult to find 650c ss/fixed wheelset on cl and ebay because they're mostly built for road bikes. Best of luck.

I have a 650 wheelset from a vintage road bike. I'm not gonna use em cause I want 700's.
NM - didn't realize you need a fixed rear. My bad.
