I had an accident on my Giant Raineer last month. The bike has been at my brothers house as I was unable to ride due to an injury from the accident. I asked him to check the bike for damage. He says that he had difficulty putting the rear wheel on, but was able to get it on.

Does it sound like the seatstay is bent? Is this something thst can be repaired?Or, is it time to start shopping for a new frame?

thanks for the help

Depends why itwas difficult to put the wheel on. A lot of peopel find it difficult on any bike. Could have been a rear der problem or wheel or..

Also depends on what the bike is made of. Damaged alu or carbon is different from good quality steel. At least you think you could need a bike, again so it sounds like you expect to be back on two wheels soon, and that is the most important!

If in doubt, take it in to a bike shop and have them look at it. It's hard to diagnose these problems over the internet.

It's hard to bend a seatstay. You may have a bent drop-out though. It may just be your brother isn't familar with your bike as well.

It's hard to bend a seatstay.
By yourself, sure. With some help from a vehicle impact it's dead easy.

+1 A lot of people think putting on a rear wheel is difficult.

No substitute for pics. Can you describe the accident? You might want to start looking for a donor frame.

Of course it's time to get a new bike. It's always time to get a new bike.
