So, I pretty much know nothing about Sacramento other then where Sacramento state is, where the arden mall is, where my house is and where the school im going to is (Folsom Lake College, not that that's in sac.) My house is on 10th near the Elixer, around S street, i've been on a break from riding getting all this moving stuff figured out and need some suggestions on bike trails, maybe a route to Folsom lake, not sure how far it is, and pretty much everything not related to riding too, night life, where to find out whats going on and all that pleasant jazz.

Are you in Sac now? If so, I'd welcome some company for tomorrow's ride. There are a few of us here from that area. I'm always looking for folks to ride with.

Ok, gotcha. I usually post here when looking for someone to ride with. The American River Bike Trail is an easy way up to Folsom. You can pick it up in Sac and just head East. A lot of my rides incorporate part of it just a means to get from here to Folsom where the hills start.

There is great riding around Sac, particularly in the foothills. If you like hills, we got what you need! Lots of good group rides around as well. Sac Wheelmen is probably the largest group, but you can search and find alot more.
Welcome.

Riding:

To get to Folsom Lake, head up 10th to H and go right on H. Stay on H alllllllllllll the way up to Carlson Dr and go right. Stay straight on Carlson for about a block and you'll see the entrance in to Sac State. Follow the Sac State entrance road left around Campus. After a small amount of time, you'll go under a footbridge that will look lead on to a mini-Golden Gate bridge thing. Loop up on to it, cross the bridge and go right on the trail on the other side of the river. Stay on the trail and you'll hit Nimbus Hatchery in about 14 miles, Lake Natoma in a mile after that, and Folsom Lake about 5-7 miles later.

Nightlife in your area:

TONS. Elixir is cool. You should check out R15 (on the corner of 15th and R). They have pool tables, tons of TVs, you can rent xboxes, and they have an attached Cafe Bernardo with kick ass food. Also, soon on about 17th/capitol a few new places will be opening up, including Deveere's Irish Pub (http://www.deverespub.com/), which is going to be awesome. There will also be a CPK in there and some other stuff, and that's right near Capitol Garage, Park/Masons, 33rd Bistro, etc. All fun places to hang out.

Other random stuff in your area..

13th/S Dad's deli. Go here. In fact, you should go as soon as you read this thread. That place rocks.
Hair cuts are fantastic at Space 07 on 15/R
There's a big Safeway that's open 24 hrs on 18/R

Have fun!

On S and .... 13th I think, or there abouts, is Dad's deli. You must go there

Thanks everyone! I'd love to go for some rides however i'd probably get dusted, I always have saddle comfort probs that wear into me. I'll definatly have to try dads deli, but they evidently they arn't open on nights. All really helpful, if you have anymore cool places to point out I definatly would appriciate it thanks.

Yeah Dad's has some goofy hours. Well worth it though, IMO.

You never know. I'm certainly not a fast rider. I do eventually finish the ride though. Keep coming out for rides and you'll get stronger and faster.

Dad's deli isn't open at nights but there is Dad's Kitchen on Freeport and it is owned by the same guy and has the same menu and they are open during normal restaurant hours. They also have good breakfast sandwiches there. Right next door is the Freeport bakery which has many great goodies. Rubicon brewing on Capitol and 21st is awesome, a lot of bikers go there. You will find that there are a lot of hipster fixie kids around midtown with their skinny jeans acting like they don't care. Lots of great dive bars like Henry's, Press Club, Town House, and Zebra Club. Ju Hachi on 17th and S is delicious sushi and the Chef is hilarious.
I live around 16th and O st and bike everywhere in this town and it is great. An alternative route when trying to enter the trail from Sac State because going through campus , during classes can be crappy and congested, when you cross over J st. on Carlson turn left onto J and you will see a little trail off to the right, right before the bridge and that puts you onto the trail that takes you to the bridge. I also prefer to take M st then take the Hornet tunnel under the railroad tracks to get onto campus, you avoid the traffic on H st. I use this route every day to get to campus. Here is a map of the city's major bicycle routes: http://www.cityofsacramento.org/transportation/dot_media/engineer_media/pdf/Citybikemap.pdf (http://www.cityofsacramento.org/transportation/dot_media/engineer_media/pdf/Citybikemap.pdf)
Welcome to Sacramento! Hope you enjoy it, I definately do!

Check out the Recumbent Riders of Sacramento ride. They do the American River Trail and don't mind other types of bikes tagging along.
