I am from the east coast maybe the terminology is different here? Alley cats are urban bike races on open courses, where you have to reach certain checkpoints, how you get there is open provided its done on your bike. It is basically mimics making drops like a messenger, each checkpoint you get a signature, person to the end with all the signatures first wins. Depending on the amount of people there will usually be two winners a geared, and a fixed.

Check the SS/FG forum for Denverites and ask them through PM, if you haven't already. I do believe there are/have been some races in Denver. Good luck.
