So who are your favourite female guitar players?

Bobbie Gentry, excellent singer and sexy to boot!
Joan Jett is just hot.
I have always had a thing for Chrissie Hynde and her work is fantastic as well.

Bonnie Raitt plays a mean slide guitar. Check her out in this duet with John Lee Hooker:

Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls) are amazing singer/songwriter/guitar players.

But my favorite would have to be Pete Townsend of The Who.

Here's what he had to say about it: "I know how it feels to be a woman because I am a woman. And I won't be classified as just a man."

Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi both blues slingers (who sound remarkably alike).

+32. Ani's got a sound all her own. Attitude, rage/humor, chops. The live disc Living in Clip is a great place to start.

I'm going to add to the discussion the twin guitar / no bass player attack of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker of the defunct Sleater-Kinney. Add in some powerful drumming from Janet Weiss and they were a killer live band.

Ani totally jams hard. Her playing style is very unique. I am not talking about just her music, but the way she actually plays, strums, & plucks the strings. The only guy that I can think of that comes even close to playing like that is Keller Williams. He covers a few of her songs too.

Lucinda Williams. Saw her last night. It was kinda cool the way the show went because she went from her first album to her most recent and played a few tunes off each of them.
