Hey guys (and gals), i just got my first "real" bike about 5 months ago when i started college. i've had a dual suspension walmart bike that weighed 48lbs for 3 years now and i got sick of carrying it up the stairs, so i went out and got a red 2007 (i think) Specialized Hardrock Sport at my LBS. i just needed something to get me to class and back since i live on campus, and i saw this one at the shop. i went home, did some reading on the interwebz (for better or worse) and found that people loved the frame of this bike, the wheels were pretty much indestructible, and that the front fork "sucked." so far, i havent broken the frame, i've had a wheel come out of true (what's the term for this?) and fixed it, and the fork is fine for my purposes so far. after the first 4 months of riding around on what looked like dirt bike tires, i got some michelin transworld city street tires for it and i really love it. i have worked on and ridden dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATV's, and pretty much anything with wheels, so i will probably do any adjustments/ modifications/ work myself. so far i have changed my front brake cable to the right lever (used to the right lever being front brake on my motorcycles), changed my tires (without popping a tube, much to my surprise), added two water bottle cages, and i am working on my own light setup thanks to the inspiration on the "Geek Light" thread i found here. i can't wait to start riding to work (about 7 miles one way).:)
