Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. It is a 1970's Nishiki. It has been sanblasted and powder coated. All parts only have a few rides on them. Sugino XD crank set, Shimano BB, Tange polished headset, Nitto Peal stem w/Nitto B123 track drops, Bontrager Race Lites, seat. and bar wrap, KMC Chain, Shimano freewheel and cog, Tektro front brake/lever. The bike is literally near flawless aside from a small scrape on the TT and stem. Rides like a dream. Not sure what brand the tires are...lol trying to figure that out right now. I will be getting a ProMax seat post for sure even if I decide to sell and possible a white saddle and bull horns with new tape. Let me know what you guys think! Oh and the paint looks much better/more lively in person....flash from my camera kinda made it look really pale. Very close to Bianchi green but with more blue in it.
Thanks,
Freelander

1/4 of what youve got invested in it. the scratch in your powdercoat completely ruins the value.

A bike is worth whatever the largest sum of money that someone will pay for it and not a penny more. There are so many variables that no one will accurately be able to tell you what it's worth.
If I were posting it on CL I'd ask $135 but that's just a number I pulled out of my butt.
Why do wish to sell your new bike? Is it the wrong size or something?

There are extrinsic factors to consider. I bet you could get $350-400 for it in New York City, if you listed it on the first nice day of spring.

The Classic and Vintage forum got so many "what is my bike worth?" threads they started a new forum just for those questions.
I suggest the SS/FG forum moderators do the same here; move these threads to HERE (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=273)

I've a feeling that it would be worth more in it's original trim. Around here, anyway.

Don't listen to these guys, you can sell fixed gears right now for quite a bit of money. My friend sold his POS world sport for 300 on CL. Your bike looks to be a lot nicer than his. Ask 4-500 and see what kind of offers you get.
throw it under a bus and be done with it!

nishiki made a wide variety of frames and only a handful of them are really nice. buyer would have no idea what model/tube material/year this would be. i can guess this is a lower end frame from the rear stamped dropouts and lugs. that being said you could possibly get around 250 - 350 in NYC mostly because of the components. you could part it out since the stem/drops/brake are decent...

depends on the local Craig's list market for such an item you could try ebay.
in toronto i say you could get 350-500$ for such a beast. maybe unload it to some kid flush with christmas money.( in a week or so). go to the LBS and get a better/sportier looking used saddle for 15$ would make the bike look a lot more polished.
have you considered riding it?

Wait until spring.
This is the key to getting a good price.

Wow haha thanks for all the feedback guys. Well for one, I think I will at least wait until spring to sell and by then, it will have some nicer upgrades. Two, I am not sure I want to sell her, I just wanted to know what you all thought I get get out of it. The market it actually still very good in the Pac. NW. Thanks and keep the good advice coming!

I feel like you can get your money back on the parts, basically. The money you spent on powdercoat is gone.

I've been trying to sell mine for $400 for the last 2 weeks with no success. I figured it would go quick since it's way nicer than most of the other conversions posted for sale. I saw some seriously jankie ones up for $550-$600 so I figured $400 for mine would be an easy sale.
did you use words like
"track fixie fixtie velodrome pista single speed" in the description?
because seriously, i've also seen some janky assed junk sell for those prices too.
i think craigslist is all about tricking the most gullible seller you can find that they're smart for using craigslist and are getting genuinely pricey stuff for cheap.
honesty will only get you what your stuff is worth, good or bad as that may be. deception, even slight deception, is always more profitable when reputation and repeat customers isn't a concern.

People will lowball you to death on craigslist, it's insane. I couldnt tell you how many people tried offering me $100 when I could easily sell the wheels alone for that.
in this economy, even in NYC, used bikes are selling for 50% less than they were over the spring / summer. also, generally the kinds of people who will know what those parts are worth are not the same kinds that would be willing to pay a bunch of money for a conversion.
right now, you could expect $200, up to $300 if you get lucky. $150-175 if you need money right now and can't wait.
when spring / summer comes around, you could probably get $350-$450.

Yeah like I said, I am waiting for the nicer weather to come around to post it for sale. By then it will get a few more things that should increase the value. On the topic of janky ass bikes selling for a ton, the NW seems to be notorious for things like that happening. I found a Puegot basically all stock, selling for $450 and it was all rusty and had flat tires and no pedals and stuff. Throw me a bone here!!!:crash:

If it was on CL, you have no idea whether it sold for anything near that price, if at all. The same crappy bikes get reposted on CL ad nauseum, many with a laughably high "firm" price tag. If you want a better sense, sell it on eBay where you can look at the selling prices of recently items as opposed to just asking prices. But you just built this up and got it powdercoated, yes? If you're hoping to make a profit, there's little chance now that you invested in the powdercoat. So why not just ride and enjoy? If you're now jonesing for a track bike, throw some fenders (and, please, some foot retention) on the conversion and use it as an excuse to keep your next bike pretty.

Good advice. Yeah thanks thats what I am planning on doing anyhow. Lol, you guys keep saying how I wont get the powder coat out....I got a VERY good deal on the sandblast and coat...good enough to not say lol. Most of the parts on the bike cost more than the coat.
