We had about 3 inches of snow here in Sumner. The winds never did materialize except for a couple of gusts around 6:00 pm and its just at freezing on my front porch where my wireless sensor is

We got another 3-4 inches here at our place in 'Eburg'. Total of 10-12 on the ground. No winds but the temperature is still single digits (7F/ -14C right now) and that's getting real old.

We got a couple more inches in B'ham totalling about a foot on the ground in areas where it hasn't been compacted. No wind to speak of. At least it's "warmed up" to almost 30, it's been down in the teens and low twenties for about a week.

About 6 inches on the East Hill, and more coming down right now. Winds are picking up a bit at the moment, too.

I'm watching a Northern Flicker eating suet just outside my window :D .

Burien's beautiful under 8 to 10 total inches of snow. Wind never got beyond a stiff breeze so power's on and got a fire burning in the fireplace. Already got a lift and trainer session in this morning so now it's just football, fire, and a nce dinner ahead. Hopefully I can pull off the telecommute again tomorrow.

Enough snow to make this a challenging ride...

Indeed!

I am thinking that tomorrow's walk home in the snow will be most interesting :) .

I had a pretty good workout today doing about five miles (in 6 inches of snow)--the walk home from Riverton Station is about ten miles (and that will be in about a foot of snow ) :thumb: .

We live between Renton and Issaquah, a little bit up on Cougar Mt. - about 10 inches Sat night and Sun. Not much wind and temp never got above 28 deg.

Benge - hard core to ride in this. Hope you had a safe place to spin 'em.

Here in the Portland area we got about a foot. I live West of Portland in Forest Grove.

I'm in the Portland West Hills area at about 500ft. We got dumped about 10 inches, and now it's a lot of ice up on the hilly routes. I walked about 5 miles to get some milk (an excuse to get out) and wore my kahtoola crampons, which helped a lot with traction. Saw a ton of folks out sliding in their cars, but after slamming mine into a rock wall yesterday I'm not so inclined. Even chains and a 4X4 aren't a guarantee right now, as my right rear quarter panel can attest. I can't even imagine trying to bike through this, even on my mtn bike.

So tomorrow it's the trainer or treadmill. Blast it all, and down in Eugene it was 45 degrees today.

I just got back from a Hanukkah celebration...mmm, latkas! I cross-country skied there and back. It's the only way to travel. On the way there I passed two cars that were trying to become unstuck. They had assistance, so I kept moving, to get out of the way.

Two feet on the ground here, and it's started to snow again.

We caught a break in the clowds on Saturday and got a nice ride in. It was about 5F in this photo:

Nice photo! Looks like that was a great ride.

I live on the plateau NE of Issaquah, but couch surfed with friends in Seattle this weekend after the snow hit so I could finish Christmas shopping and have an easy walk to work here at UW this morning. Now UW is closed and no one else in our deparment is in! My only bike here is the skinny-tired roadie, no good in the snow. Haven't been riding in more than a week and am going nuts! :notamused: Hope to get home tonight or Tuesday.

Day 8 off the bike. Crap. Went snowshoeing today and saw some dude up on skyline sliding around on a (I think) DeRosa. Gutsy. I tried to get a pic but he slid by too fast.

Pennsylvania is about the same latitude as Oregon. We had no snow here in central PA--just a dusting on the ground. But it was 5F this morning when I got up. Very windy -- gusts to 38mph. And it's only 13F this evening. Glad I'm indoors. The bike is on upside down on the balcony, where I put it last week, hoping for a test ride if the temperature got above 40F. What the heck! Instead of going above freezing, the temperature dropped from 20's to 5F. What the heck! I guess I'll have to wait for March. Man, it's going to be a long two and half months.

Oly's a mess. We got ~6" on Sunday, on top of the 6" we already had. Of course it's all still on the roads as well. There are rumors of a plow truck somewhere in the city, but I think you're more likely to see D.B Cooper petting a unicorn at a Sonics game  . So of course my restaurant is one of the few to stay open, and I worked all weekend, riding to & from work Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. I have MTB tires on the little Bridgestone, but it's just s-o-o-o sloppy in some places! I'm going to make a set of studded ice tires, as I found a stash of pan-head screws in the garage. It was fun to watch the transformers flash blue & red on Saturday night, though.

I saw one!! A snow plow in Oly!!! I walked downtown, because the roads suck too much to do anything but walk, and there it was. Oly's snowplow!

I'm not sick of the snow yet. Cookies turn out better when there's snow.

I don't mind the snow; the hard-packed stuff on my street's decent enough to ride on. It's the messy slop and frozen tire ruts I can live without, as well as the lame excuses from the Public Works Dept.

we have 12+" in Everett it has pretty much snowed everyday since the 13th. No biking since then :(
seeing that I HAVE to be at work (Seattle) and own no car I have spent more time in the last week and a half commuting than working. I am totally done with it all, bring on the rain (I cannot believe I am saying that :) )

Skiied Saturday and on Sunday, ran 7 miles morning. We had maybe 12" on the ground and the wind had blown some deep drifts along my route so it felt more like 10. Then I90 over Snoqualmie pass opened so my son and I went up and skiied for 3 hrs. Didn't miss the bike at all. More snow is forecast for tonight. and I am off work until Jan2. Yippee!!

Been taking the Jeep to work since Friday. There's no room on the roadways for a car to pass a bicycle and I don't feel like getting flattened. I was only 112 miles from my yearly goal of 4000 miles, too...

On the upside, I'm gaining positive karma by doing a whole lot of rescue pulls and dig-outs. Maybe when the roads are nice again some of these people will recognize me when I'm on my bike.

I thought we would dodge this entirely. Only had a light dusting over the weekend and subsequent rain cleared things up. We were surrounded by some really nasty road conditions and none of my subcontractors could reach the new house we are building so I just trudged up hill every day & worked by myself. Tuesday things changed and we got about 4" of snow. Our little town kept the arterials open with a road grader but Highway 22 & I-5 were nearly impassable. Intermittent rain since yesterday will soon make it all go away.

I am done with it. No more cutting slack for the transit people. I live in Everett and the commute has been insane by bus for 2 weeks now. I will cut them slack up until today. Sound Transit switched from running a normal schedule to Saturday because of the weather (not because of the day after xmas they were going to run a normal schedule on my route.) When I got downtown to transfer onto Metro I went to the same bus stop on the snow route to catch a bus, I saw 6 buses go by none were mine (26). After waiting an hour to catch a bus I finally hailed a cab. I got to work an hour late. There was no reason for it this morning the roads are clear (on the bus route) and there was no ice. I begining to think that they are using the snow as an excuse now. The "it doesn't snow here very often" statement that we hear when this happen does not cut it with me. I have lived here 42 of my 52 years in the area and it does snow often enough for the agencies to be prepared for it. Maybe not on the first day but after 2 weeks enough is enough. Mayor Nickels gave the transportation a B for there work. I give them a D-, there is no excuse for this town to come to a screeching halt for 2 weeks. A metropolitan city like Seattle cannot afford to let this ever happen again. There were a lot of poor decisions made during this fiasco and people should be held acountable for this. I am going to be short 15 hours on my check because of this and I was leaving my house at 4 am everyday (except this morning) and was late every morning for my 8am start.

As you can tell I have reached the end of my rope and have gone beyond the frustrated stage. Having vented about that I must say that the true heroes during all of this were those bus drivers and transportation workers who were out there trying there best to make sure we could all get around.

I did manage to enjoy the snow, we had a couple of feet up in Everett and had a most pleasant holiday watching the kids frolic in whe white stuff. So I am done with my rant and am gping to spend the rest of the weekend praying for more rain to get rid of this cr@p before Mondays commute. Maybe I will be able to ride on Monday,, even in the winter rain I look forward to it again.

David

Oh yeah I hope you all had a great holiday!

Come on over! Ride one of our access roads along I-90, you'll get your 112 :thumb: Bring chains for your bike tho lol.

Ran accross a bunch ou pics of you at that amity photo site for last years TdC, at the Startline, 6-7am pp 13&14. You somehow look a bit more fresh than at the finish. I think I am gonna check out the extended forecast this year...

Well it is all going away, I live on a road that gets cleared rather quickly but I tell you the rest of the roads were terrible. We had about a foot plus at my house near Poulsbo I tell you I felt like I was in Montana again. Downtown Silverdale looked like Bozeman on Christmas day. I kind of like it. I will miss the snow but seeing the sun today is very very nice... here comes the sun

Oh heck yeah I was. When I crossed the finish, I was pretty close to passing out. I've learned my lesson and that won't happen again.
