Introductions - Holland, MI

My wife and I have ridden for many years - I have a LeMond Alpe de Huez (1997) and she has a Schwimm Super Sport (2001). We are getting a tandem for Christmas - I am looking at a used Burley Duet and a Santana Team - both from a local bike shop.

We're going to have to wait until the weather gets good enough to try them out to see which one feels and fits the best. Winter blizzard here today. By the way - I have an Alpe D'Huez and my wife's bike is a Schwinn Super Sport - I know how to spell - typing needs some work.

Hey, I love it up around Holland. Nice town. :D You'll occasionally see me and the wife riding that area, as we camp in Holland State park and ride north up the shorelineto Grand Haven and down to South Haven, etc.

Hi, I joined after reading the forum for a while and saw your greeting from Holland. I'm also from Holland, just making the transition from mountain biking to road biking. We've got some great LBSs around, do you (and your wife) ride with one or more of them? Nice pile of snow we have isn't it?:)

If you ride on Lakeshore - you ride right by our house. We have done many MS150's and tried the Holland 100 once (should have ridden around the chain ferry). We have spent some time on the Kal-Haven trail (with mountain bikes) and also the Musketawa Trail (Marne to Muskegon). Usually, though, we just go down the driveway and head up Lakeshore towards Grand Haven.

I vacationed in Muskegon County and had a blast riding with the West Michigan Coast Riders. They made me feel right at home. Anyhow, welcome to bike forums and I hope you enjoy a tandem this spring.

My company is HQ'd in Holland so I got to spend some time there last summer with the bike. Great riding, good roads, very nice area. I expect I'll be up there again next summer so I'll post up.

Well, we did it. After a lot of helpful inputs from all of you on this forum, we made our decision and picked up our "new" 2007 Co Motion Speedster this afternoon. We started our search looking at older (and less expensive) used bikes, but just kept edging up the scale. We are so sure we are going to love "tandeming", we wanted to make sure we got something we wouldn't be replacing in a year or two.

The bike was originally purchased as a frame only from Co Motion and built-up by our LBS. It has all Ultegra components (including rear derailleur), the Avid rear disk brake, a Chris King Headset and Sun rims/White Industries hubs (the bike had Rolf Primas, but we traded to save $$'s).

Now all we need is some nice weather and a deserted stretch of road to figure everything out (keeping in mind that the stoker is NEVER wrong).
