Floyd was riding with a small group in Irvine today. He was friendly and polite when I said "Hi" to him.

Funny, I ran into some stats on him today while messing around on the internet. Not sure how accurate it is but...these are some stats from the stage in the TdF when he soloed. Doping stuff aside, pretty amazing.
* 5 hours 23 minutes and 36 seconds.
* Covering 200.5 kilometers (130 km alone in the wind).
* At a speed of 37.175 km/hr.
* Averaging 281 watts when moving for the whole ride and 318 watts over the last two hours.
* Averaging 324 watts while pedaling for the whole ride and 364 watts over the last 2 hours.
* At an average cadence of 89 rpm.
* Transferring 5,456 Kjoules of energy to his Cycleops PowerTap.
* Taking, no joke, a total of 70 water bottles (480 ml each) from the car to keep himself cool and hydrated.
* Attacking about a quarter of the way up the Col des Saisies for 30 seconds at 544 watts, which settled into a 5-minute peak of 451 watts, which continued for 10 minutes at an average of power of 431 watts, and left everyone in his dust after 30 minutes at an average power of 401 watts.
* Spending 13.2% of his time or 43 minutes coasting like a rocket on the descents and another 60% between 4 to 7 watts per kilogram of body weight (aka, the pain cave).
* Holding onto 373 watts over the Col de Joux-Plane.
* Hitting a max speed of 83.7 km/hr (51.9 mph) and flying like a Phoenix on his way to the most incredible moment in sports I have ever witnessed.

Oh crap. I had to pick a day to ride solo. Darn it. I had my camera with me too!

I have run into Landis more than a few times. He has always been nice and said hello. One time i was loading my mt bike onto my rack at santa rosa plateau and he was the one to say what's up to me first. So doper or not he has been one of the nicest cyclist I have ever met.

That's because you're practically neighbors with Landis. Ever ride to his house for a cup of sugar?

He was at Como this morning, and has been there pretty regularly lately. I agree that he's always been friendly, personable and has a good sense of humor.

Floyd used the power file as evidence during his doping hearings. I haven't found the file yet, but I believe it's a matter of public record.

Note that Allen Lim works with the "conspicuously clean" Garmin-Chipotle.

Do you believe that Lim believes Floyd was clean?

How's it going Pat? I've seen you going the opposite direction a couple of times recently. I think by the time I call out your name, you've already passed beyond earshot.

70 bottles over 323 minutes => a bottle every 4' 36", or from a different perspective, more than half his body weight in liquids. Kind of hard to believe.

He was dumping the majority of them over his head and back for cooling, not drinking them.

I still have the DVD I recorded of that day, and that's pretty much all you saw of Floyd - dumping water over his head and down his back. I don't think he even stopped for a pee break. If he didn't stop he probably just let it run down his leg and all the water flushed it away. Sorry for that image.

I have no problem with Floyd, when when he shows up at Como or Food Park, the entire ride becomes a sprint and nobody tells the people at the back "Hey, Floyd's here, we're going to hammer the next 40 miles because he's sitting behind a motorcycle getting paced."
IMO, Como has been unpredictable because of him.

Just getting over a cold and back on the bike, but otherwise things are good. Sorry, I haven't heard you or I would have acknowledged. I always have my eye open for BFers (that sounds wrong) when I'm out. Hope things are going well for yourself.

8 or 8:30 ride?
Como? 8:00am, I don't think anyone does the 8:30 start anymore.

I didn't see Floyd this morning, but was told he was in the pack (I'm assuming that meant he was at the front). The main group went up Bake this time, and I stuck with them until they split up @ Portola/El Toro. Most of the group headed into RSM, and they were flying!

Yah, it was a good ride today. Got warmer than I thought. I did hear at the end (I bowed out at the hill to Cooks Crner) that he was there. Still too early in the year for me.

He was there in the new "Ouch" kit. Bake was actually pretty mellow compared to a couple of weeks ago. It stayed fairly tame until we hit the "bumps" in Live Oak and then The Wall.
