This is a followup to a thread I started this summer on converting from Shimano to SRAM. Thanks to your support I was able to get all the right answers right here in BF. Did the change and couldn't be happier. Thought will share some pics.

Changed Components:
1. Ultegra Triple/9 Shifters to Force Double/10
2. Shimano 9 Speed 12-32 Cassette to SRAM 10 Speed 11-28
3. XTR Rear Derailleur to Rival
4. 9 Speed Chain to 10 Speed Chain
5. Cables and Housing. Not needed but I changed them anyways.

Pros:
1. Upgrade from 9 SPeed to 10 Speed drivetrain.
2. Looks! Clean look with internal cable routing in handlebar. I'll admit. I am vain when it comes to my bikes.
3. Lose some grams if you are a weight weenie.
4. Smaller shifter hoods and better reach if you got smaller hands.
5. Other SRAM Double Tap featurs.

Cons:
1. Downgrade from Triple to Double. Sacrificed big ring. We are spinners and hardly used it. Will change the middle 39T to a 42T or bigger if needed.
2. Slow front shifting from small ring to middle ring. I'm stil using the Ultegra FD. Will change it to SRAM Rival in spring and see if it will improve.
3. Chain rub on middle + biggest cog behind. Hoping the SRAM FD will fix this.
4. Missing Big Ring on a triple crankset looks odd. A Bash Guard in it's place might look better.
5. Cannot use a Flight Deck computer head if you use it for gear indicator and virtual cadence.

Your Burley looks nice! Rival is said to be the "best buy" in components. It will be interesting to see if the Rival FD improves the front shifting.

I agree, the complete 2009 Rival Group can be found for as low as $650. I am thinking of changing Ultegra on my single to Rival too. I've had them for 9 Years and they served me well but it's about time to retire them. Hopefully I'll make the cash I need in Valet Tips this winter to make it happen :D

The 2009 Rival/Force Shifters comes with adjustable reach which is a ++ for me.

I just have to ask why? Lots of money & time for a *******ized result but i have seen much much worse.

I just have to ask why?

I bought the tandem used and the Captain K-Wings were too wide for me. The guy who came to look at it saw the Flight Deck computer and made me an offer for the Handle Bar, Shifters and Computer that I could not refuse.

Decided to try SRAM on the Tandem since I like them and if it did not work out I was planning on swapping them for Ultegra on my single. At the end of it all I spent less than $100 out of pocket :)
