i want to feel the coolness of a breeze on my sweat drenched clothes,
every short-cut is unobstructed by the banks when it snows,
the delicious air that's so refreshing and mild,
i can hit the trails in the woods and feel a little wild,
the precision of warm rubber on dry pavement,
i can move about town with out looks of amazement,
i do not have to worry about staying warm,
my shoes have clips and i worry about my form,
my water bottles don't freeze by them selves,
the road bike waits patiently in the garage by the shelves,
a ride in the summer is freedom, don't take it for granted
six months of the year i trudge through snow muttering god damn it!

i do not need to de-ice the tumblers in my lock when it storms,
i dislike society but in summer its easier to follow the norms
just being that guy who rides a bike and not one who is crazy,
surrounded by those who are too f**kin lazy,
despite all the odds i am not snowbound ,
i pedal my happy ass all around,
watch my coworkers scurry to their cars,
with out a gas pedal they wont go far,
perhaps man is to domesticated,
im not just an a**hole its a little more complicated
don't forget that you are still a primate,
what good are you if you cant survive in your natural climate?
hold on to that little bit of natural instinct,
who am i kidding lets just hope some people still think.

it feels good to know i am not the only winter biker
sometimes i follow someones tracks that are not my own
but still i remain alone in this hick town somewhere in Wisconsin

i take the winter as a challenge of mental and physical resilience. even if its 10 below i still wanna get on the saddle. some call it insanity, i say its fun.

standing still is but one step closer to being dead

im drunk

I should be on the bike headed to work. My mom calls me up as I'm throwing on the last few layers and tells me I'm not biking, that my dad will come pick me up. Something about -25 wind chills.

I checked the weather reports and it's only -16.

Sounds pretty good for something done. I hate the dark too. Thankfully the cold isn't too bad. I can just throw on some sweatpants and a polo shirt, with maybe a raincoat on a colder day and get on with it. Winter highs are in the 40's where I live. Sorry to rub it in. That said, sunset today is 4:01pm, and sunrise was 8:04am. That sucks.

with proper clothing i don't think it can get too cold to bike, you can always put more on
