We keep an L2D by the back door to use at night. Tonight the wife told me the batteries were dead. I just charged them so I was quite surprised.
Turns out the batteries are not dead, it just suddenly only puts out a very dim light.
Any ideas?

Bump.
It now puts out this dim, dim useless light with fresh batteries. What the hell happened?
There's something wrong with the clicker.

I have another Fenix that I used to determine the problem. It's the bulb that has gone bad and this is in a light that is not that old and doesn't get that much use. If I take the head of the working Fenix and put it on the non working one, it works. It is clearly the head of the flashlight.
How do I replace the bulb or can I? And does it make sense that I still get a little light or if the bulb was burnt would I get nothing?

I would contact Fenix or the Fenix store and not mess around here. Let us know what you find out when you get a chance. Sorry you are having the problem. At least it did not happen on a ride.
I suppose you can take off the tailcap and put it on another body if you have one.
Try cleaning the threads and battery contact points. Any dirt in those places can reduce the available current.

Hopefully you remembered to turn the bezel so it's still on turbo mode. Sounds obvious, but is sometimes forgotten.

Haven't cleaned the threads yet. I'm an idiot, any suggestions how?
It is definitely turned all the way to turbo. It puts out way less light than if it were even on the lowest mode.
I have contacted Fenix. Got a reply so far but pretty much just a carbon of what I sent.

Just got a response from the Fenix store. They said to return just the head and they would service it for me. Gotta like that service. :)

I had the same problem with an L2D and got the same service from Fenix. They replaced the head at no cost. I paid shipping there, they paid the return.
