A couple questions about touring with 26 inch wheels:
I'm looking into buying a Bruce Gordon BLT-x but his front fork has braze ons for a high riding front rack. Is it possible to have a low riding front rack with 26in wheels? That is what i would like to have. Also,if it is possible, what racks would you all recommend for this scenario?

Hope everyone is enjoying the beginnings of spring!
many thanks,
jake

With a 26 inch wheeled cycle and lowrider you're going to run into ground clearance issues... especially when leaning into corners and riding on rough surfaces.

And yes, you can use other racks with a BG cycle... check out a Tubus front rack like a Tara.

Or a Bruce Gordon rwrider rack. I think the photos are for illustration purposes, so he shows the mountain rack on the bike with 26" wheels.

As far as I know, it's possible to order the BLT-x with a lowrider rack.

I've ridden 26" wheels with a lowrider and I never had any problems. If you're doing hardcore mountain touring, or if you ride a fully loaded touring bike like a road bike around sharp bends, you'll have problems, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm having a bike built right now with both low rider and high rider mounts, and I still haven't decided which I'm going to put on right away. I'll let you know if I come to any conclusions... :)

thanks for the reply...another question for those of you out there responding...have you heard of Gunnar's new 26 in. touring bike called the Rock Tour? It comes just as a frame and fork for about 1000 bucks. I was thinking about building my own....can't seem to get exactly what i want over the counter. Do you all have any experiece with this company?
peace, jake
