I didn't realize how poor the road conditions were on lower ACH below Clear Creek. I guess the peach fuzz snow cover caused such calamity below 3500 ft that it was imperative to drop road grip all the way down to the gate at 2000 ft. Who knew?
At any rate, this made riding on Sunday quite the gritty experience. It was also nice to see all the people come up to the frozen tundra. How exhilarating it is to see 4 pounds of icy bushes and mud along with four thousand of your neighbors in a road turn out. If you were late, you probably didn't get to pile snow on your hood and watch it fall off as you made your way down the hill. And maybe one of these ice blocks flying off your vehicle almost clipped a cyclist.
What is usually a moderately traveled road turned into beginners day in the forest. "What, you can ride your bicycle up here? Who'd a thunk?"
