I didn't realize how poor the road conditions were on lower ACH below Clear Creek. I guess the peach fuzz snow cover caused such calamity below 3500 ft that it was imperative to drop road grip all the way down to the gate at 2000 ft. Who knew?

At any rate, this made riding on Sunday quite the gritty experience. It was also nice to see all the people come up to the frozen tundra. How exhilarating it is to see 4 pounds of icy bushes and mud along with four thousand of your neighbors in a road turn out. If you were late, you probably didn't get to pile snow on your hood and watch it fall off as you made your way down the hill. And maybe one of these ice blocks flying off your vehicle almost clipped a cyclist.

What is usually a moderately traveled road turned into beginners day in the forest. "What, you can ride your bicycle up here? Who'd a thunk?"

hmm...I was going to go up ACH on Sunday but figured the road was closed. I instead jumped on the mountain bike and went up to the top of Mnt. Lukens (5070 ft.) almost. There was ice in all the shady areas almost immediatly maybe 1,800 feet. I couldn't quite get to the antennas due to the snow but it was fun.

I know Redbox road to Wilson was probably closed but was it open up to redbox?

I started to drive up Big Tujunga on Sayurday and the road was closed. I'd like to try going up ACH Sunday if it's open. My sunday ride is usually to Mnt. Wilson. Think it will be open, wet, snowed, closed?

I turned around at the Clear Creek gate. The road was a combination of ice, water, road grip and sketchy drivers. The gate before the Adventure Pass station was busted and laying at the side of the road. Wonder how that happened?

I just didn't see the point of continuing further.

As for the coming weekend...I just can't say. But my bet would be more of the same.

I'm thinking of staying in the lowlands for a while. Or Little Tujunga/Camp 9.

It's the drivers that wierd me out.
