Anyone been there today? Dry? Icy?

Thanks,
Ben

I tried to go yesterday and I got to the park but realized I had forgotten to cover my ...bits with something wind-proof. The ride there was ****ty with packed down snow and ice too, so I figured it wouldn't really be worth it.

Just wait a few days. When I went by on Saturday it looked to have been cleared at some point but it was snowing again. Anything left on the road on Sunday froze solid yesterday.

The Manhattan Bridge is a largely impassable ice rink, if anyone cares. From what I hear, the Brooklyn Bridge is usable.

Ocean Pkwy bike lane was also cleared at some point, but may be the same as prospect park.

The rain and warm weather will change all of that.
For now anyway.

Happy Holidays to all!

Rode at PP yesterday afternoon. There's was some ice on the north side of the park near Grand Army, where the cars come in the park.

The bike lane on Ocean Parkway was mostly clear except some dicey areas south of Avenue U (frozen puddles and such).

Hopefully the rain melts everything and doesn't freeze over and turn everything into a giant skating rink. Happy Holidays everyone. Be safe! :)

Unfortunately, the steps to my house froze over and I wasn't expecting that. I went down all of them on my butt. Only damage is to my index finger on my right hand. That really sucks because the thing I was doing 5 minutes before I left the house was playing the piano and you use that finger a lot. Typing this right now doesn't seem to bad so maybe I'll be OK later when I get back home.

For those that are still curious, I went a few weeks ago and it seemed ridable.

Weeks ago? Heh.

Rode there on Saturday from around 9am-11am. ZERO other cyclists.

Yesterday (rode 1pm-4pm) was a little wet with some salt scattered around. Saw 4-5 recreational riders and a PP Peloton guy on a single speed steel Bianchi with carbon fork (since I have a Bianchi as well and am particular to them). I said, "nice ride" to the fella but he didn't care lol.

I always try to keep it friendly in the park, but some people just won't look up.

I've given up on riding until the roads clear. I've just spent time cleaning up all of my bikes and I'd rather just keep them that way.

Was there in the park at the same time with three other teammates. Yes, it was cold. :thumb:

Rode in the park today and was surprised by the amount of snow/ice still there.. Nothing of major concern but closer to the edges of the path you need to keep an eye out. Path is still really salty and gritty.
