Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Where to buy Schwinn Madison?

I've been looking for a schwinn madison for about a month now. There are a few LBSs that carry it around here, but they sell them for 500+. That price is out of my reach. I am looking for a price under 400. I did some research and found that some online retailers (such as Performance) used to carry it for under 400.

So I ask you guys. Is there some online retailer that carries the bike for under 400? If not, should I wait?

Bike prices went up a TON in the past year. I wouldn't count on finding it cheaper.


Unless Wal-Mart starts selling it.

Keep an eye on eBay. A few weeks ago, there were a ton of 08 Madisons for sale for aound $375.

Look for a sale at Performance. They do 10-20% off sales often.

ebay had some for $379 the other day. and they were the new ones.

Thanks guys. I want to get one for the spring. Hopefully some sales pop up before then. If all else fails, I'll get a bike from bikesdirect. The reason being, I'm low on cash.

I was able to get a brand new Madison on Ebay early this month for under $250.

This was pretty freakish:

The bike was being sold from an LBS that had closed its doors... for $300 +47 shipping.

Microsoft Live.com was offering 25% Cashback if you joined and used their Cashback program:
$300 x .75 = 225 + 47 = $272.

Ebay was also offering $30 if you used a new Ebay Mastercard:
$272 -$30 = $242.00

Live.com is down to 4% these days. :(

Either way, keep your eyes peeled. The deals do happen.

Damn. No sales anywhere near that good here in phx. I'm gonna keep an eye on all sales. One is bound to pop up before spring time, right? Hehe.

Just keep an eye on craigslist and ebay.
or just go with bikesdirect if the wait is too much.
