Bicycle Mechanics - Seatpost Question

My Raleigh Super Course MK II frame accommodates a 25.4mm seatpost. I would like to get a seatpost with an integrated saddle clamp. However, getting a seatpost with a saddle clamp and in that diameter is proving challenging since I'd like a better quality one. I was wondering what the difference between a road seatpost and a BMX seatpost is because most BMX posts come in 25.4mm and have lighter weights.

A lot of BMX seat posts are really long, much longer than you need on a road bike (if you need a post that long, you have the wrong size bike).

Someone is selling a Kalloy seat post in your size on ebay. It looks decent, but is long.

I have a BMX post on my Peugeot PE-300 myself (it came that way from a thrift store). I don't like the smooth shiny finish (almost looks like chrome), looks out of place on a road bike to me. I much prefer the appearance of a fluted post.

There is a sweet looking Avocet on ebay right now for $80. That is outside my budget.

Your other choice is to use a shim.

there is no different in size, just in material what they are make of.you can always cut it down if it to long.

I also prefer a fluted seatpost, but budget and and preference sometimes disagree.
I guess my real question is do microadjusting seatposts differ between road style and BMX.
