Hey, what's everyone doing for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day? I know some of you are doing the San Bruno Mountain race, and others are doing the Mt. Hamilton thing. How about everyone else? Any new year's parties I should crash?

I will be on the east coast enjoying the fine New England weather over New Year's eve/day. Have a good time riding while I'm spending 9 days off the bike :)

Hey Ron, if I didn't have to go to sleep early I'd invite you up here to see the fireworks, but I know once you get that lampshade on your head there's no stopping you!

I hear it's an annual ride, but I don't remember who puts it on.

I'll be riding Mt. Hamilton in the morning of the 1st with some buddies unless the weather is sucky. There is no organized "event", other than the many club/group/shop rides. Lots of people just ride it; it's kind of a New Year's Day tradition around here.

Same with Diablo. It's a pretty busy day on the mountain.....

I always get started early or some of the faster road runners would pass me!

I went up last New Year's Day thinking I'd be the only one. Boy, was I wrong! I might try it again.

I'll be joining a group of friends going up diablo - we'll let the early risers get up there first, and wait until 10 or so to start out.

I'm probably going to end up doing Mt. Hamilton. Western Wheelers has a big group going, so I think I'll join them. But if I'm lazy, I might just do Montebello.

I calculated that I'm shy of 7K miles by a mere 80, which I could do today -- but the fog rolled in last night, it's so thick you can barely see to the end of the block, and I'm not sure if our new Flea lights are enough to keep me from being run down. :( I'm going to wait a bit before I go out into this soup, if I go at all.

It might be a trainer day...sigh...

What time do groups typically start up Mt. Hamilton on 1/1?

You can always ride tomorrow. Mt San Bruno hill climb has openings for Cat4 women. You can sign up tomorrow morning onsite. The more the merrier:innocent:

Go with my blessings, and be swift up yon mountain.

I'm in no shape to compete. My $$'s on you, Scotty!

Western Wheelers group is leaving at 8:30 am at the corner of Alum Rock and Mt. Hamilton.

I thought you were doing San Bruno Mountain? What time are you heading over (as if I'm able to keep up with you).

Nope, didn't register for the race. I'm not sure what time I'll be getting there, but hopefully early enough to secure a parking space. I had thought of bringing the Jamis for it's maiden voyage up Quimby but now am more inclined to bring the fixed gear bike since it's still on the to do list via the regular route.

If I get up early enough, I may ride over and do Mt. Hamilton (getting my double century training in). Otherwise, if I get up later, I may just opt for Hicks.

Bostic

Shoot, you had to go and play the double century card! I need to start getting in form for that too so perhaps I'll ride the Fuso from home.

Still haven't decided on a route, but I'm riding local Sac/Folsom tomorrow.

Going to a small gathering tonight. Tomorrow...not sure. Video games probably. I've been off this week so I've been riding every day. Wouldn't mind a break :D
