Bicycle Mechanics - 8 speed to 9 speed (MTB) Crank question
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
When converting to 9 speed from 8 speed, I know the general consensus is that you don't need to change the chainrings on the crank. Any issue with dropping the chain between the rings though due to the difference in chain widths?? I'd rather just change it all if it's going to be tempermental.... although finding a triple with a 48t big ring should be fun. :(
There should be no problem since the difference is minimal at most.
