Me for one. Schwinn Stingray one year and a Varsity a few years later. The Stingray was great, the Varsity not so.

Some kind of schwinn (w/ training wheels).
It was blue.

Somewhat creepy/heartwarming thing was that it was a present from my grandma who had died that august.

yes, a 26" early 50's black Hercules 3 speed. All bright, shiney and brand new.

It was a Stingray knockoff from Western Auto that I also learned how to wrench on.

Nope. Birthday present 1st...I still have it. I would have my brother's Schwinn Sting Ray, but alas, the rents threw it out a few years back. Still a little pissed about that.

Not Christmas, but my birthday in the middle of the summer. Too cold and snowy in the winter to get my first bike. :p

Yeup! A brown 3 speed Montgomery Wards with 27" wheels! Seat all the way down and I had to mount using a planter or a step since it was so much taller than me that when I pedaled, at the bottom of stroke my toes *barely* touched the pedals for the first almost 6 months! It was also the bike I learned to ride on! I was TERRIFIED to go down hill on that sucker!

Schwinn Stringray, probably around 1970 or so. It was metallic purple and gorgeous. A few months after I got it, it was stolen from our yard. We eventually recovered it, but the thief had painted it flat black. My brothers and I (mostly my brothers) stripped the frame, repainted it a beautiful blue, and reassembled it.

It was stolen again shortly thereafter, and never recovered.

I did. I was 8. It was a J.C. Higgins with 24" wheels and a coaster brake. Eventually I sold it with the intention of buying a used 26" bike from a friend's brother. When I went to make the deal, however, he wanted $5.00 more than I had so I was without a bike for about 8 years until I got into college.

Probably not Christmas, since I remember being sized for it at the store, so more likely for my birthday a month after Christmas. J. C. Higgins. Must've been a 24". And probably about 1960, maybe '61.

Radagast the Beige-and-Black was a Christmas present to myself one year ago.

A blue Schwinn Stingray for me too, Christmas of 1969 or 1970. Easily one of my most memorable gifts.

Yes, I did. A Trek Navigator. I bought it myself, when I was a youngster of 40. And December 24, 2006, I took my first ever bike ride, complete with crash avoiding a mailbox. :)

I didn't get my first bike for Christmas, but I did my second. Got a Schwinn Corvette, mid-weight, with 3 speeds in 1958 when I was 13. I thought I was really uptown. Wish I still had that bike.
