Hi guys,

Continuing on with my Motobecane to CAAD9 frame swap, it appears my front derailuer is the wrong size. I need a 34.9 clamp on derailuer.

Currently, I have ultegra front and rear derailures, but was considering going with Dura Ace F.D. Is this a worth while change? Also, it appears that the new Dura Ace F.D. the 7900 model says you need specific levers. Would this not work with my current setup? Looking to do this the most efficient way possible.

Also, any idea what I can do with the old Front Derailuer? Is there a place to go where people look for components other than ebay?

The common thought is that the front derailleur is one of the least cost effective place to upgrade... There is only marginal difference between a 105 and a Dura Ace...

So, whether or not it needs a special lever or not (which I don't think it does), it would be irrelevant to me... I would go with 105, or Ultegra if I had money burning a hole in my pocket. ;)

Other places to sell derailleurs would be Craigslist or here (with an upgraded/paid membership). Or try trading, maybe someone has a derailleur with a 34.9 clamp they would trade for yours.

I'm looking into some Ultegra FD-6600's and some appear to say 9 speed and some are 10 speed. Will they all do a 10 speed ( which my bike is) or are there in fact only 9 speed Front Derailuers?

Shouldn't make a difference. The 10 speed chain is a little narrower than a 9 speed chain but I doubt that there is enough difference (if any) between a 9 spd front derailer and a 10 speed front derailer to worry about.

Do you need a double or triple derailer? Let me check at home since I have a spare double. PM me.

You can take it to a local bike co-op if you have one.
