Great Lakes - What an odd little world this is...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You know, after you have stepped back and been away for a while, then peek back into the window, what you see some times strikes you as rather odd.
Case in point...

Two pages of discussion about how to place a lever. Really?
I guess you don't notice it when you have actually been a part of it for so long. Out in the real world people would make fun of that whole discussion...which is why I am about to exit the real world and get back into cycling soon.

Thanks for finding that thread. If it means nothing to you - lever placement - then you just simply don't ride in groups. Some of those positions can get you pretty hurt.
Does that mean anything to people "outside of BF"? No...unless they ride in groups or race then they care. You don't really like to do either so it makes sense that it is a meaningless conversation to you.

That's a great thread. Sure it's a small detail, but an essential fundamental for sure. I think that is something that you pick up early on in your career and it just becomes habit, you never think about it because "that's the way it should be done". Then when you see a newcomer doing it 'wrong', it just jumps out at you.
Good stuff.

Steady there, mate.
You know well enough that Hip has ridden in group situations. It may not be all the time, but I've been in a paceline or two with him.
Back on the trainer!

You missed Hip's blog where he lamented losing his cycling mojo. I suggested on multiple occassions that he needed to find a group and ride with it. He demonstrated that is not his bag.
As such it makes sense that he can see no purpose in proper skewer handle placement.
I guess "welcome back" Hip, but you'll have to forgive me if I poopoo grandiose "I'm leaving" and "I've returned" threads. They just piss me off. Unplug your computer and just ride if you're better than everyone on here.

Dude. If you start writing "All work and no play makes Psimet a dull boy" all over this bulletin board I'm calling the snow patrol to rescue you.
:twitchy:
so does this mean Hip cant come in Starship Psimet to watch the 2016 Olympic Cycling Events in Peoria and subsequent trip to Bi gALs?????
later.
Psi, don't tell me we are going to need botto to teach about irony? You need to embrace the incongruity, not fight it.

Yes, the irony was somewhat tasty at the time.

Well, I don't know what it means, but I've ridden with a few groups, but I'd never really given the lever placement issue much thought.
So, there's that.
