We'll be on the tandem, so no train for us. I normally would. You can ride to our place again if you want Chris. Otherwise the route is EASY to the bridge.

I can post it up later if no one else is going on the train.

PS- Caltrain is running a regular schedule that day aren't they?? It's 1/2 so it's not a holiday.

Alright, thanks for the offer and the reminder about the train schedule, namely that Friday is not the weekend. The express train from Redwood City would get me in at 9:19 which would give me plenty of time and a chance to check the route from the station to the bridge, which i've yet to do.

Like Bostic, I can't ride Saturday so I hope to do this Friday. Right now, it seems OK, mostly cloudy but I suppose we will know better in 36 hours.

Chris If you want to just find your way to the Ferry building we can all go together...Otherwise in the event it doesn't rain we'll see you there.!

Alright, sounds great. It looks like the Ferry Building is on the bay/Embarcadero near Market St. Is my best route just to take Embarcadero the 1.5 miles from CalTrain? In other words, is that road bike friendly or should I just take some "side streets" (as if they exist in that locale).

Proud to say of SAn Francisco...Embarcadero is major friendly!:thumb:

Chris...

Here is how I usually go. Very Easy!!

If we go, we'll be in that HUGE parking lot you see on Old Mason. That's the infamous Sports Basement parking lot.

Sounds like Ferry building is the main rendez-vous for Friday or Saturday depending upon the weather. Does anyone have a bikely of the proposed route for the ride?

Route? What Route? We don't need no stinkin' route!

I think Pete actually knows the route based on his post here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=8092614&postcount=18). Right, Pete?

Well based on my recent slippage in form, I might need a ball o' string to find my way back if the rest of the pack disappears into deepest Marin. I guess I'll just trust in the force.

To get to the Ferry building from Caltrain, it's actually pretty easy. Make a left turn on King (turns into Embarcadero), and continue on the street, all the way till you get to the Ferry Building.

All,

It's looking like 70% chance of rain in Mill Valley (and SF) for Friday, so I'm wussy-ing out and changing the ride day to Saturday.

Current plan is to meet at the Bridge by 10 AM. Please PM me for either my cell number or yours so we can confirm whether to wait for you.

I'm in for Saturday - PM'ing details. I'll plan to meet Pete at the Ferry Building if he's also still in.

everyone should be aware-tam has repair work on the roads in several places.

The road WAS closed just past Alpine Dam. Secondly, the road before seven sisters is covered in gravel...not fun

It's too bad the weather is not cooperating but I agree on cancel-ing. I can't do it Saturday but Tam is going nowhere so I will be doing it with you all soon enough. Have a good ride, it looks to be a good, sunny day.

I'll just hope to ride around the neighborhood tomorrow - Crestview, Lakeview, maybe Kings Mtn if it looks dry enough (as if that can't change in a minute). Not a bad backup plan, no sirree.

I'm in for Saturday for sure!

I did Tam a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't too bad . We hopped the road closure and a lot of the gravel is washing off on the Seven sisters...A little caution othewise ok.

Thanks for the warning to everyone Juipiter:thumb: We'll use caution!

OK - count me in for Saturday, too.

I just met these new friends to play softball with in Sunnyvale and there is a practice Saturday so that seemed priority. Especially being so new and feeling a little precarious to the team. But it is only practice, and I played with them last Saturday (and may I not-so-humbly say showed some skills) so I contacted the manager and asked for an out and got it. Now I love playing ball but I really wanted to do this ride.

I have not been around for awhile since I was wedded to Western Wheeler rides throughout December. So I look forward to riding with the BFers Saturday.

I have to be back in SF by 3. Since it's a 55-mile route (according to Pete..I'm disclaiming any responsibility from this point on ;) ), I think if we start by 10 AM, we should be back by 2 PM, taking into account traffic-coffee-waiting circumstances.

By the way, is the CalTrain set all meeting up at 9:30 in front of the Ferry Building main entrace for Pete to do a pick-up lead to the Bridge? If so, I will be there also.

Saturday... Caltrain arrives at the station at 8:36 or 9:36 AM depending on if you get the 1st or 2nd train.

I will try to make it tomorrow. I will take BART to the ferry bldg- but what time? 9:30 there and 10:00 at the bridge? Earlier is fine with me. I may cut the ride short, depending on time. Can't make this one too epic.

Hmmm...Ok, how about meeting in front of Ferry Building at 9:50 for those that are taking Caltrain? From there, I'm sure it takes only 10 minutes to get to the Bridge if we all draft behind Marco/Ruth train, right?

ROJA

Isn't it about 5 miles to the GGB from the Ferry Building? The way I go, it probably takes 25-30 minutes.

That'd be great for me, I second the plan. But it may realistically push back the start from the bridge about 10 minutes.

Roja, I was mostly joking. I think we'll get to the Bridge as fast as we can. Hopefully there won't be too many people waiting for those of us starting from the Ferry Building at 9:50.

Gotcha. I was confused because we wouldn't get to Sports Basement until about mile 4 of the 5. If I can make it, I'll meet you guys in front of the Ferry Building (along Embarcadero) at 9:50. If you don't see me, don't wait up.

Hey, this sounds like it's going to be a great group. FWIW I was on 101 this morning in Marin, it sucked big time to be driving a car through all the rain and spray, I think riding a bike up Tam this morning would not have been fun.

I'll plan on being at the ferry building by 9:50, hoping that I can find the group. :)

Hey gang- Somehow missed you guys. I got to the Ferry Bldg about 5 minutes late (9:55) and no one was there, so I figured you were already on your way (I had said not to wait for me). I thought I would catch you guys at the bridge, but you must have already left (I was there from about 10:20-10:30). Then I thought I might catch you in Sausalito or at Mike's, but no luck. You guys must have left right on time and really trucked along. Anyway, I had a nice solo ride up Mt. Tam and back. About 52 miles total and ~4100 feet of climbing. I will try harder to be on time for the next one!!!
