Hello All

I am not sure if this tread is not already in existence. If it is please excuse me. I recently purchased a Trek 520. Can someone recommend a make and model of full fender, preferably black in color, that I can use to replace the ones that came with the bike.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but can someone tell me what the point was to the fenders on the 520 and Portland? Just a design exercise? They look like they are so far from the tire that it's hard to see how they can contain any spray. And the front looks like you'd hit it with your toe anytime you turned the wheel. Do these things actually have any functional value? What was Trek thinking?

This is my exact point Akansaskid. They are not functional. The rear fender vibrates against the rack and the front fender can hit the toe clip. I want fenders, but functional ones.

Good clearance for tires up to 35mm. Doesn't look goofy if you run as narrow as a 28mm tire under them.

Thank you to everyone that replied. I call a LBS and they had some silver fendens handy. I am going to check them out and hopefully they are pleasing to the eye.

I have a 2004 Trek 520 that was sold without fenders. I added a pair of Planet Bike fenders on it and have been rather happy with them.
