I got a nice 1992 Schwinn Paramount from the Dump yesterday. The guy was unloading it from his van and threw it in the dumpster. I pulled it out and took it home and cleaned it up. It needs a new front rim and it will be ready to ride. The gears shift smoothly and everything seams to be in good working order. I checked the frame up and down for possible cracks just to be sure there wasn't some structural problem with this bike. It has Shimano 500 level components which I was told are equivelant to todays 105 series.

I will definately post some after pics. I am trying to get the wife to understand that this bike "NEEDS" some Velocity Deep v's.

You do know that you just scored Schwinn's flag ship bike? The paramount was the top of the line steed for years and years.

Fir some real fun, post over in the C&V forum and tell everyone it is a dumpster find. It will absolutely kill them, and they will be very appreciative that you saved it.

Very nice score.

very nice bike indeed. friend has one, rides great.

if im not mistaken, these were handbuild in waterford (also heard same guys that made these now make gunnar and independent fab bikes now). the lugs were silver brazed.

someday i might try to track one down in my size just to have, as my first real road bike was a schwinn.
