Southwest - Yuma area: ride recommendation needed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll be in Yuma for a few days in early January. The Yuma Bicycle Club seems to have club rides on weekends, but no weekday rides for the winter. Any locals here that can help out? Any good ride advice would be much appreciated.

It's been over 20 years since I was stationed there. I used to commute on 95 between Somerton and the MCAS. For a nice rec ride you might try old Highway 80 west to Wellton or Mohawk, but the best rides can be had on a MTB or xcross bike, since many of the back roads are unpaved, not to mention some great trails in the desert.

Ah, good ol' Yuma, home sweet home! Was just there for Christmas. When I'm there I can't wait to get out - when I'm out I can't wait to get back!
You should check with Mr. B's bicycles. Fourth Ave just south of 16th street, west side. 4th ave is the main street ya know. 16th street is the other main street. :) Or maybe it's a mile away.
There are many rides, road and dirt and dunes and rivers and lakes and, well, everything! Except trees. Yuma is short on trees. But 'most everything else.
There are back roads to Senators Wash (that's a lake).
There are back roads to Foothills (that's the small town to the east).
There are back roads to Mexico (buy tortillas for breakfast).
The Dunes makes a good ride (but it's gotten bumpy over the years).
Have fun, now!
