I found one but it doesn't seem to be generating.)I've run a short ground and tied into the output lead but am getting nothing on a meter. Is it possible these units generate in only one direction? I installed it so the flip lever engages the unit on to the tire.
First question (I guess) would be can these units be rebuilt?
Second Question should the first question come up a no, anyone have a spare for sale?
Sanyo Dyno Roller Generator.

Anybody using bottle generators anymore? Find a lot of them on old bikes, find them heavy to carry and heavy to pull when in use. Light is not all that bright. Any hope for them? Can they be used with Led lights? Sad to pull them off and throw them, but I want more! Anybody know?

I have a cheapy bottle dynamo I bought at target. I replaced the headlight with a B&M lumotec w/ a 3 watt bulb. It does an acceptable job and don't have to worry about batteries. I could attach bridge rectifier to turn the output to DC instead of AC and it would work fine with LED lights.

Thank you, I`ll try this.

This last part I did not quite understand, but I`ll ask my friend who knows more electrics (but less English) than me.

Do anybody know the answer to Modo Vincere`s original question?

I think there is only one way to mount them but anyhow, they should generate in either direction. They will work with LEDs. See this site for circuits : http://www.pilom.com/BicycleElectronics/BicycleElectronics.htm .
