Mountain Biking - Anyone used a shovel in the dirt?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking to get a set of platform pedals, and because I have a good bit of money in gift cards to performance, I was wondering how Forte Shovel Pedals worked. I havent seen any reviews (other than what is on their site), so I was wondering if anyone had tried them out.

Never used them, but they look pretty nice.
I'm diggin' the customer reviews: "I've used these pedals on my comfort bike for over 4,000 miles . . ." I imagine he found similar positive results doing curb-drops on his recumbent.
Seriously though, ca7, they look fine. Pins in the interior of the pedal body (not just perimeter pins) are a plus. You don't see a lot of that.

Yeah, I think I'll get them, but I'll wait and try to have someone pick them up for me next tuesday during the lunch time 10% off sale. Guess I've missed that today, though
I just bought a pair of Wellgo MG-1 magnesium pedals off ebay for a delivered price of $30.87--still available. I like the raw look but other sellers have all the colors for more money. Bearings seem smooth.
BTW, if you are in the habit of smashing pedals into things I think magnesium will crack much easier than aluminum.

I do have that habit, but I seem to get my pedals caught more on the stupid honey suckle we have here than rocks. I figure if it hasnt killed my SPD's yet, it prolly wont kill platforms. I think I'm going to go with those sub 30$ Azonics from Jenson as I already am going to get some Kenda's from them.
They look like a knock-off of Kona Jack**** pedals

You're riding a knock-off of a safety bike.

What kind?
They look thick. For the price, you can get some Kona Wah-Wahs...awesome pedals - low profile, wide, great grip, relatively light, and reasonable price. I think they are sort of a knock-off of Atomlab and I have seen others that are VERY similar (Deity) but the Wah Wahs are the least expensive.

2.35 Nev.'s. Only getting fronts, and I'm putting my current front out back. The Nevs will be an improvement over what's there now (up front), as will the current fronts moved out back.

These are the pedals I think I'm going to get. Even if they really suck, who cares? For 27 bucks, thats a risk I'll take.
