Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - A windy 73 degrees

Wow, an unbelievable day in North Texas. Clear skies, warm weather, and Spring like winds.

It was awesome to ride in short sleeves and shorts. It wasn't so awesome fighting a head wind for the last 3 miles after coming out of 3 or so miles of hills with a heavy cross/head wind.

I think I've done all the climbing I want for the week. Tomorrow I'm looking for something nice and flat.

Yeah, it was 68 here in Arkansas. But big time breezy. Rode in shorts myself. Got to take advantange of these type of days in the winter. High tomorrow is projected to be 49. So, back to more normal temps.

I've just had a brief memorial service for my quads. I think I'm looking for a flat route or two to round out the mid week, lol.

There is no such thing as too many tamales!

We had the wind too - the only difference was you need to subtract 40 degrees to get our temp, but the ride was great anyway.

73 and very little wind here in Tucson. Seemed like a crime to not be in the saddle today. This is the time people are envious of our weather. Not so much in the summer.

Your killing me Beanz...just killing me. Think I am just going to a movie tomorrow and eat some :popcorn. Weather supposed to suck tomorrow. Actually, I am going in for my sleep apnea sleep test tonight. I am hoping the CPAP gives me some much needed energy in the afternoons and my weight begins to drop as does my blood pressure. Never realized apnea caused such a wide range of issues.

Anyway, hope the tamales came out as burps as opposed to the methane deal.:roflmao2:

Good stuff. You can actually buy them in a can or frozen, but it's just not the same.

I agree, today was awesome. I was able to do a 12 mile ride with my MTB on it's new Knobby tires(Panaracer Fire XC Pros). Wish I didn't have to stop but I promised my nephew I would take him to the park to "race" R/C toys. Hope tomorrow its nearly as nice as it was today!

On a bad note with the last few months of work, being sick, and the holidays hitting I went from 220 to 240. I've got a new year to look forward to some more weight loss. :cry:

Yeah... I finally managed to break away from obligations long enough to get 1.5 hours of pedal time in.:thumb:
(I'll be danged if I let another 70* day slip away!) Tee Shirt and shorts and I still managed to break a sweat...in late December! Woo (and/or) Hoo! Even the headwind couldn't dampen my spirits!:love:

The wind was out of the southwest, so I rode on the surface streets to the Trinity River Trail in Benbrook (the southwest corner of the system) and then rode several miles on a mostly deserted trail. I just put it in high gear and rode like crazy. Very cool ride. And easy. At the end I had to climb a hill and popped my first spoke ever. That's what I get for being aggressive on the hill I guess.

Actually, it's generally in the 100's.

The cyclocomputer was reading 114* during the Tour Paris (heat radiating up from the pavement) and it was'nt too bad. As long as you stay hydrated, supplement your electrolytes, and stay moving (create your own breeze) It can be pretty comfy! (I'm an old dancer <now run to fat>...heat is good for my muscles and joints)

I may think about doing the Hotter than Hell 100 next year.

Unfortunately, we get the same weather as Texas here in Arkansas. Average temps in the meat of the summer months is mid 90's on average with enough humidity to choke a horse. Higher temps can be above 100 for several days. I can recall July 1980 where the entire month averaged 107. Last couple of summers have not been that bad. A need for a camelbak hydration system and 2 bottles full of gatorade is a must.

Oh...and Texas has no State Tax to deal with.:thumb:
I've actually looked into living elsewhere...but the cost of living here is actually pretty low and the cultural offerings (theater, art, music) are readily available. (I have most everything available within cycling distance...and the Richardson/Plano area is pretty bike friendly)

The time I spent living in San Diego was the greatest weather I have ever lived in. It even beat Hawaii due to much less humidity.

Looks like after today, we're in for mid 60's for the next 5 days for the most part. This is good, because today was a nice 12 mile spinning exercise to get the Lactic out of my quads from two days of trying to win the elusive Polk-A-Dot jersey.

A 42 mile ride with 40 mph wind. I figure it's easy one way and tough on the return. NO biggie! Plus it's fun when you ride by other riders and they all jump on! Gina toughs it out too!:thumb:
