I was just wondering if you had chimed in on this thread. Nice job. How did your racing compare to last season. You put roughly half the miles in this year and I have a feeling your racing changed.

I raced Masters 4/5 this passed season (2008) and by the way the Masters races were alot smoother than the 4/5's. And for the racing I held my own, maybe it was the Powertap. I did'nt get dropped in any races. Placed in points for 40+ in all but one race and I cashed a check in superweek. So overall a GOOD year!!!

As for the low miles I blame the weather. I was on the trainer every month of the year last year due to flooding, rain, snow and ice just to get a workout in. In December I had 0.00 miles outside. The start of the year was crap due to weather so I did'nt get a real good start and lost a litte steam thru the year. But with the less miles maybe I was more fresh to race. This year is starting out crap also with no rides outside yet.

Hey Psimet2001 are you going to race Masters 4/5 this year?

Yup. I cat'd up to 4 recently so I will be doing 4/5, 4, and masters 4/5 whenever available.

I still need a lot of work to get in decent shape, but coming along.

2,231 outside miles for 2008. Not bad seeing I don't get out until after April 15th (lets play... guess the profession!)

Quite a few of out of town travel weekends cut down available riding time, but I have started taking a bike up to Minneapolis with me when I visit the daughter. Now that is a city with nice trails!

2009 goals... 2750-3000 miles and a few more rides with Hipcycler.

3418.
Caveat being: I use my bikes for grocery getting and short trips everywhere. I often ride up to the weekday morning coffee rides with the retirees then ride home.
The 'official miles' (with the club) rounded out to 1935. (I had 1995 but the mileage keeper is a gal and I wasn't into a 'last word' banter on it)
No idea how it worked for others but 2008 was a rough (wind..lots of it, rain..lots of it)season here in Western New York (Buffalo). Started off ok (april and early may) and sank from there.

What do I want to improve on for 2009?
Hills.
Those long agonizing climbs that I've found the short route around for the past decade.
Time to condition this 66 y.o. body to tackling those long runs up the niagara escarpment and those hills south of the city.

I rode just over 1,630 miles and should be able to nearly double the miles, was going to shoot for 3,000. If I could only commute it would not be a problem.
