hey dudes-
I got a question that I can't seem to get answered anywhere else. If you look at the american cyclery webpage, you see three different cinelli frames offered...the super corsa, the super corsa bordeaux and the olympic. I know that the standard super corsa is a road frame, and the olympic is a track frame, but what's the bordeaux? At first I thought "bordeaux" was just referring to the color, but if you look at the frame, it has track ends and no cable guides or hangers...it looks like an olympic with chromed out lugs and various paint jobs.
Anyone know anything about this? I emailed American but I haven't heard back for like 3 days.
also, ahs anyone ever seen an olympic in any colors other than red or yellow?

as of now, the olympic comes in red and yellow. The bordeaux is the top of line pista in cinelli's line when they made 3 (I believe) (or 2), the bordeaux with slx tubing, the model b with sl tubing, and maybe the olympic, and it may ahve had sl before changing to thron. Cinelli no longer makes the bordeaux, or the model b, but only the olympic. I know this is confusing, but it is hard to sort out, givbben the lack of info out there. the model b may have evolved into the olypic, in which case there never were three models in the line but 2, reduced to one, only the olympic avvailablve now.
I hope that answers your questions, and anybody, please feel free to correct me.
thanks Tomb.
so the bordeaux is no longer made? I wonder if it's still available from american cyclery....it's on the site, (which doesn't really mean anything)..I wonder if they have old stock or something.

They do have them supposedly, I looked at one when I was in SF last week and it was suuuper sweet. John at businesscycles may have one too.

cool! so did the bordeaux come in various colors or is "bordeaux" the color? the american cyclery site seems to indicate it comes/came in a bunch of colors.

When I bought my Olympic frame over a year ago from my LBS, the Super Corsa track frame was also available in my size. I didn't want to spend the extra $400 for the Super Corsa. Looking back, I wish I did.....
So just out of curiosity, I called my LBS this morning about the Super Corsa. They checked with their local distributor and told me that several sizes are available, including my size and can have it tomorrow afternoon at the latest.... I told them I don't have $1200. Nonetheless, I told them to check what colors were available in my size. OTOH, for that kinda money, one can almost order a custom frame for a few bucks more.
BTW, bordeaux is just one of the colors available.

I'm inbetween the super corsa pista and the olympic, and wondering if it is worth the extra dough for the corsa. Can you tell me whay you wish you had gotten the corsa over the olympic?
thanks, t

All I know is that I want two of each.

would you rather have a cinelli or a custom made frame? like fixer said, the super corsa track frame is only a tiny bit less than a lot of custom bike fees...I dunno though...there's just something about those cinellis that makes me want one...

does the cinelli have true track head tube angle/ fork rake?

The Cinelli Olympic has Steep angles and classic Twitchy handling. No brake holes and high bottom bracket. The only thing that makes this frame not as pricey as some of the other high end ones is the tubing is Thron O/S Not a bad tube choice, just not high end. Quite stiff.

I love mine. It makes for a very quick handling street bike. No provision for brakes so if that is your need, you might look elsewhere. You can get a road fork and use it on the frame along with a front brake but that will change the handling somewhat as they have a little different fork rake.. It also will add to the cost and really, it would be better if you just chose another frame. I would caution you against drilling the fork for a brake as it will destroy the value of the frame for resale to anybody with track bike aesthetics. Contact John Dacy www.buisnesscycles.com and he will sell you one for about as cheap as you can find, and he is a very good person to deal with. I have dealt with him for years and have never had a problem and only exemplary service via mail order.

I second the business cycles reccomendation...I ordered parts from him recently...very nice guy, very easy to deal and my stuff came before he said it would.
