Jump in with yours if you want.

I'm about to move again. I've found a better place in the area of town I like. I'm also tired of doing the work of keeping things running at this place. I learned quickly that if I don't do something here, it doesn't get done. Room mate won't lift a damn finger to do more than occasionally take out trash, then never put it at the street. Back story here is that a friend of mine owns the house we're renting. I am refinishing a hardwood floor in the hallway for him.

So, I've done all the work sanding and staining the hardwood floor and fitting in a threshold. I waited until 2:00 AM to put down polyurethane and said I was doing so. I had to be up at 6:00 AM today, but I just wanted it done. I put a baby gate in the doorway as well. I figured that would be a pretty good hint as well. I figured wrong. ****er walked on the wet polyurethane I put down after I went to sleep. I hate when people are so friggin inconsiderate.

Wow what a doofus. Was he one something?

I had the room mate from hell -- well, she really wasn't my room mate, she was the gf of my room mate. She pretty much lived with us but didn't pay for any rent or utilities. What got me is when I'd answer my phone (he had his own phone) people would ask for her and ask ME why I'm answering Brenda's phone. WTH?? Oh, and when she moved my furniture out to MY garage (he was not to have access since he didn't pay for it) and put hers in place of it.

I ended up totally losing it and literally pulled her nekkid butt out of bed and dragged her out the front door and locking it.

Hate roommates. Like marriage but with more frustration
less benefits.

Trust me, she wasn't all that.

She stood outside whining, "Biiiiillllllllllllllllll!! Tell her to stooooooooooop!! Let me innnnnnnnnn!! Biiiiiiiiilllllllllllll!!!!!! It's cold out here, Bill!!" Effen whiny little piglet. Pfft. She's lucky I was so patient with her. :notamused:

I turned around and told Bill that if he lets her back in and if she even TRIES to stay here, I'm kicking his butt out there too. I think he saw the fire in my eyes while I stood there glaring at him - my finger pointing to his face - because he just went out there, handed her his coat, came back in (while she stood outside) collected her stuff and drove her home.

You really should have put a note.

Have you ever refinished a floor? Would you walk into a hall with a baby gate across the middle that smelled of fumes and just assume that it was blocked for no reason? What the **** HAS to be done at 2:00 AM? I essentially lost sleep to not inconvenience only to have my work messed up.

I would have lost it too. Moved YOUR furniture? Oh hell no. She would come in to find a large knife sticking out of her furniture. That would be the only warning.

I'm sure he didn't want to get junk on his feet. Thus, he stepped on it not because he's mean or inconsiderate but because he is an idiot. You can't really hold him responsible for being an idiot. It is his nature.

Roomie was probably stoned on Poly fumes and sleep walking.

I vowed a long time ago I would never have room mates again. I had one roomie who decided to stop paying rent "because it isn't fair to ask students to pay so much" - I hated her guts. She didn't work, she didn't clean, and when she did clean she did it so half assed it was worse than when it was dirty. Like the dishes. I came back from a weekend stay at my boyfriend's place and found a weekend's worth of dirty dry dishes in the sink. I washed and dried them because I knew she was never ever going to touch them. When I went to put them away I noticed a weird smell coming out of the cupboards. The dishes she had washed she didn't dry before stacking them and the water pooled and gotten mouldy. Even worse was her collection of used sandwich baggies in one of the kitchen drawers. It didn't matter what was in the bag (sandwich, peanuts, cat food, raw chicken) she'd rinse it out and toss it in the drawer to reuse. Horrible!

The other room mate didn't leave his room for 6 months. He didn't go to school, or to work, or to see his friends, he just stayed in his room. He came out only when no one else was home and then he ate all of the food while never contributing any money to pay for more.

When I moved out of this mad, dirty, ridiculous house I had to raid every room, closet and nook to find all of my sheets, blankets, towels, tshirts, sweaters, and books. I couldn't put a lock on my door and the roomies began to think of my room as their own closet. I guess since I was the only one who did laundry I at least had clean stuff.

Yep, never had a room mate again. I'd rather move in with my mother. She'd drive me around the bend with her odd opinions but at least she's tidy.

Hmmm, never had real problems with them. The current one is a bit of a weirdo, and not very neat but nothing excessive. Before that, had nothing but awesome roommates...as it is, I've come to like living with roommates.

Wow, yall have had some bad ones. Where I was about two years ago, my room mate was awesome, but his girlfriend lived there. She would go through my **** and at the time I didn't even want people in my room. She didn't pay rent, and she was very very passive aggressive.

My last room mate was the most oblivious person in the world. I had to constantly go behind him turning off lights, shutting doors, etc. He wasn't very reliable. Otherwise, it was fine.

I only really have four options. I can live at home, which I'd like to avoid. I can live in the tiny ass dorm room and pay more than I do now. I can rent a crappy single bedroom efficiency. I can rent a three bedroom house and just have a room mate. I always choose the last option.
